Gunsmith II - Small Arms Repairer
**Purpose:** The Gunsmith can design, fabricate, modify, repair and service foreign and domestic firearms, weapons and accessories. This position will work on external/internal and terminal ballistics; build custom pistols and rifles, as well as other types of weapons systems with minimal supervision. **Essential Responsibilities:** + Perform detailed assembly and disassembly of foreign and domestic small arms weapons including small arms inspection, maintenance, and minor repairs. + Performs ammo inventory and residue turn-in, publication and catalogue updates, tool and capital equipment maintenance, calibration control, weapons cleaning and organizational level weapons maintenance. + Design, fabricate, modify, repair and service foreign and domestic firearms, weapons and accessories and is capable of designing computer prototypes from customer input, has necessary knowledge of munitions and ballistics to accomplish assigned tasks. + Possesses knowledge of the tools (i.e. hammers, punches, files, stones, etc.) and gauges needed to perform assigned duties, has limited knowledge in the operation of gun-smiting machinery such as lathes, milling machines, surface grinders, etc., as well as limited knowledge of tooling used with those machines. + Has knowledge of basic shop safety procedures needed to work in a small arms environment, performs support functions for the shop, to include bead blasting and preparing metal parts for refinishing. + Performs all other position related duties as assigned or requested. **Minimum Position Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities** **Education:** + High school diploma or equivalent required. **Experience:** + Minimum 2-3 years' experience + Armor certification or Gunsmith certification(s) preferred **Specialized Knowledge and Skills:** + Requires knowledge in the use of hand tools, machine tools, and other equipment necessary to perform assigned duties, has the knowledge and skill to design and construct prototype small arms from drawings or customer input. + Qualification for this position usually requires attendance at a formal one-to-two-year accredited in-house gun-smithing course, or equivalent work experience. **Certification, License & Clearance:** + Tier 1 NACI required for all U.S. Citizens. **Work Environment, Physical Demands & Mental Demands:** + Ability to perform job duties efficiently and effectively. + Must be able to work in extreme environmental conditions including dust and high temperatures. + Must be able to endure long hours, exposure to weather and hazardous conditions. + Must be able to lift up to 50 Lbs. **Other Responsibilities:** Safety - Amentum enforces a safety culture whereby all employees have the responsibility for continuously developing and maintaining a safe work environment.
