ABOUT THE POSITION
We are seeking a skilled and experienced Manager for the Survey/Geomatics group, based in Tampa, FL. This role involves overall program/project management, leading and scaling the team for diverse projects, and employing data-driven technologies to ensure high-quality deliverables for our client. This leadership role will guide the strategic growth of our Geomatics practice across private, state and federal markets.
Responsibilities
Service Line
Develops and directs service line strategies and initiatives that support VHB’s strategic plan and local business planning/strategic pursuitsAligns service offerings to VHB’s market requirementsCollaborate with local and regional leadership to drive key hires, client development, and technical excellence.Develop growth plans and identify market opportunities and strategies, such as key hires and the development of business opportunities while meeting expectationsMonitors and maintains the financial performance of the Survey/Geomatics groupData-Driven Technologies
Promotes the awareness of available technologies within the Survey/Geomatics teamPromote the use of advanced survey technologies including UAS, terrestrial scanning, LiDAR, and GPS systemsEvaluate and implement new tools and workflows to enhance project delivery and client satisfactionDevelops client solutions benefitting from advancements and applications of data and technologiesQA/QC Practices
Manage full project life cycles from scoping and planning through execution and deliveryEnsure quality control and consistency across all deliverables and processesSupport cross-office work sharing and staff resourcing for large, complex projectsWorks with leadership groups to develop and implement consistent work processes and standardsWorks with discipline groups to develop and implement quality plansReviews client and quality audit feedback and develops plans to implement best practicesTeam Leadership
Supervise and mentor a team of survey professionals across office, field, and remote settingsOversee hiring, training, performance management, and career development within the groupFoster a culture of safety, accountability, and innovationProject Management
Creates project plans, identifies, and organizes resources, and successfully executes projects to completionDevelops, monitors, and maintains project budgets, scopes, and schedulesPromotes work sharing across offices and advises on the deployment of staff on major projects and pursuitsManages a team of Survey/Geomatics professionals. Carries out supervisory responsibilities, including hiring and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; evaluating performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; coaching and motivating; and addressing problemsParticipates in professional and personal development aligned with career goalsPerforms all job functions in compliance with applicable federal, state, and local regulations and VHB policies and proceduresSkills and Attributes
Strong leadership and decision-making skills with a strategic mindsetProficiency in survey technologies and software including AutoCAD Civil 3D, Trimble, MicroStation, Geopak, OpenRoads Designer and LiDAR platformsExcellent communication skills—verbal, written, and interpersonalExcellent management skills with an emphasis on performance recognition and developmentAbility to strategically identify and implement innovative ideas that add valueProficient in a broad array of technical skills with professional masteryProficient with Microsoft Office SuiteExcellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skillsTeam oriented with ability to perform multiple tasks independently in a timely manner and collaborate effectively and positively with othersSelf-motivated, highly organized, and detail orientedSkills and knowledge must be commensurate with required experience and job levelQualifications
10+ years of experience managing Survey/Geomatics projects, including 5+ years of client/staff/project managementBS in Survey Engineering, Geomatics, Geographic Information Systems, Engineering, Reality Capture, or related fieldLicensed Land Surveyor in Florida is required.VHB offers a holistic benefits package which can be found here.
