Overview
Polaris Industries designs and manufactures a wide array of off-road vehicles and the Indian Motorcycle product line. The Battle Ground, WA site focuses on innovative digital gauges and infotainment displays for Polaris, Trail Tech, and OEM customers. This Group Lead role is responsible for leading, motivating, coaching, and communicating with a team of 10–15 operators, using daily problem-solving skills to improve quality, safety, and employee engagement.
Primary Responsibilities
Production, Quality, & Continuous Improvement
Identify and remove obstacles that interfere with Operator’s standard work.
Support daily production by quickly containing and escalating problems that disrupt the line.
Drive continuous improvement and escalate issues as needed.
Develop and support quality initiatives to achieve industry-leading quality and customer service.
Document problems for root cause analysis and implement countermeasures.
Use structured problem-solving to eliminate waste and drive incremental improvements.
Audit and provide feedback on Operator standard work compliance.
Maintain the Tier-1 Continuous Improvement Board to achieve safety, quality, delivery, and cost goals.
Establish/maintain visual management systems using tools such as 5S.
Direct and execute daily work assignments based on department needs and schedules.
Manage material flow and ensure lines are appropriately stocked.
Provide backup to essential duties, such as receiving, inventory, and shipping.
Verify inventory transactions are accurate.
Leadership & Team Development
Run daily team meetings to improve performance in safety, quality, delivery, and cost.
Work with peer leads and supervisors to manage vacations and call-ins.
Support consistent operator training using the cross-training matrix to build a complete skill set.
Provide situational leadership and supervision; support Polaris culture and values.
Participate in employee development, coaching, and mentoring, including job instruction and cross-training.
Coach operators in lean principles and Polaris Production System tools.
Develop trust through fairness, confidentiality, and strong leadership.
Communicate effectively across all department levels to ensure clarity in a dynamic environment.
Demonstrate professionalism with all Polaris employees and external contacts.
Be flexible and open-minded to accommodate additional duties as assigned.
Able to work independently with minimal supervision on an off shift and follow proper escalation processes directed by supervisor.
Ensures the team is compliant with proper safety protocols and procedures and leads the team in emergency situations.
Qualifications
Minimum Requirements
1–3 years of previous Team/Group Lead experience.
In good standing with the company (values, attendance, quality, safety).
18 years of age or older with legal authorization to work in the U.S.
Willing and able to work overtime, including Friday and Saturdays.
Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, Project).
Strong documentation, analytical, and communication skills.
Self-directed, motivated, and collaborative.
Desired Qualifications
Four-year college degree.
Familiarity with AS400, UKG, and Visual Work Instructions (VWI).
Physical Requirements
Lift up to 40 lbs and push/pull up to 175 lbs.
Bend, twist, turn, kneel, squat, and reach overhead.
Use of torque tools and perform strong pinch and grip movements.
Stand and walk for up to 10–12 hours per shift.
Work Environment
Fast-paced office/manufacturing/warehouse facility.
Hours Monday – Thursday 6:30 am – 4:00 pm, Friday 6:00 am – 10:30 am with potential OT Friday / Saturday.
Base Pay Range:
$25.00 - $28.00
