Group Director, Product Management - Diagnostic Solutions

The Group Director, Product Management, oversees the strategy and full lifecycle of the diagnostics franchise, encompassing all product lines. This role is responsible for managing each product’s evolution—from new product development through retirement—while partnering closely with internal teams and external stakeholders. By aligning portfolio initiatives with customer needs, market demands, and business objectives, this leader ensures the product roadmap delivers sustainable growth and value. 

Job Expectations

Leadership and Team Management:

Lead and mentor the product management team, fostering growth and high performance. Foster a collaborative and innovative work environment that cultivates continuous improvement.

Strategic Planning:

Develop and execute end-to-end product lifecycle marketing strategies to drive growth and maintain profitability.  Own the creation and management of product roadmaps in close collaboration with R&D, Program management, and relevant stakeholders. Align product development initiatives with market trends and customer feedback.  Improve and establish product management processes to ensure consistent, best-in-class practices.

Product Lifecycle Management:

Oversee the entire lifecycle of products, from business case and launch, through sustainability and eventual obsolescence. Identify opportunities for product enhancements and new product development Ensure successful go-to-market (GTM) strategies for product launches.Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with cross-functional teams - including Global Portfolio Strategy, Operations, Regulatory, Quality, Engineering, Sales, and Customer Support - to drive product success and ensure customer satisfaction.  Partner with Commercial marketing teams to design campaigns, messaging, and branding for products. Act as the primary liaison between the product management function and commercial marketing function, ensuring aligned objectives and strategies.

Customer-Centric Focus:

Conduct market research to understand customer needs and industry trends.  Gather and analyze customer feedback to inform product development, marketing strategies, and customer satisfaction.  Monitor the competitive landscape and regularly communicate updates and impact assessments across relative internal teams.

KPIs and Performance Metrics:

Measure the success of marketing initiatives and product performance. Track metrics such as market share, customer acquisition, retention, and revenue growth.

Key Qualifications

Educational Background: Bachelor’s degree in marketing, business, product management, or a related field (MBA often preferred). Experience: 10+ years of experience in marketing, product management, or related fields, with 5+ years of leadership or director-level experience.

Knowledge & Skills

Strategic Thinking: Ability to develop and execute long-term strategies. Market Research Expertise: Strong understanding of market trends, customer behavior, and competitive analysis. Product Management: Deep understanding of product development processes and lifecycle management. Communication Skills: Excellent verbal, written communication and presentation skills utilized for cross-functional collaboration and stakeholder engagement.  Leadership: Proven experience in managing and mentoring teams. Strong leadership and team management skills. Ability to mentor and coach. Analytical Skills: Ability to interpret data and derive actionable insights to inform decisions. Problem-Solving: Ability to anticipate and identify issues and develop creative solutions to address them.  Product Knowledge: Advanced knowledge of the company’s products or services, preferably in the medical or diagnostics field.  Industry Knowledge: Familiarity with the healthcare industry, including trends, challenges, and key players, especially those relevant to the medical devices and diagnostics sector. Understand the processes and regulations in customer working environment (e.g., lab/radiology). Customer Insights: Deep knowledge of customer segments, buying patterns, and decision-making processes.

Additional Requirements:

Travel requirements: On average, 50% travel time – fluctuating with business requirements (10 days/month). Ability to attend in-house, corporate, and field-based meetings as needed.

The annualized base salary range for this role is $150,000- $268,000 and is bonus eligible. Final compensation packages will ultimately depend on factors including relevant experience, skillset, knowledge, education, business needs and market demand.
