Group Director, Commercial Marketing - Diagnostic Solutions

The Group Director, Commercial Marketing, provides strategic leadership across the full lifecycle of the diagnostic division’s marketing initiatives, from concept to execution and ongoing optimization. Accountable for driving revenue, sales growth, and market share, this role ensures all marketing efforts are aligned with customer needs, market trends, and business objectives. Working closely with internal teams and external partners, the Group Director delivers sustained growth, measurable value, and a direct impact on the company’s bottom line and long-term commercial success.

Job Expectations

Team Leadership and Collaboration:

Lead and mentor the commercial marketing team. Foster collaboration across departments, including sales, product management, medical and sales education, market access, and commercial operations.

Strategic Marketing Planning:

Develop and execute comprehensive marketing strategies aligned with the company’s commercial objectives, driving sustained revenue growth. Create customer segmentation strategies through market insights and analytics to drive revenue growth. Collaborate with sales and product teams to align marketing campaigns with business goals. Design, implement, and continuously improve commercial marketing processes to drive operational excellence, ensure industry-leading practices, and cultivate high-performing teams.

Revenue Growth and Performance Management:

Focus on key analytics and metrics, including sales pipeline growth, customer acquisition and retention, and marketing return on investment (ROI). Monitor and analyze key performance indicators (KPIs) to optimize marketing campaigns and spend.

Market Research and Analysis:

Conduct market research to understand customer needs, competitor positioning, and industry trends. Use insights to refine strategies and create targeted campaigns.

Brand Development and Positioning:

Ensure that the company’s brand is effectively positioned in the marketplace. Oversee the creation of marketing materials and messaging that resonate with target audiences. Ensure cohesive brand and messaging across product and channel.

Digital Marketing and Innovation:

Leverage digital channels such as social media, email marketing, website, search engine optimization (SEO), and paid and earned media, and advertising to drive growth. Stay ahead of trends in marketing technology and innovation.

Budget Management:

Develop and manage the marketing budget to maximize resource efficiency and achieve strong returns on investment. Allocate funds to campaigns and initiatives that deliver the highest impact.

Customer-Centric Focus:

Develop strategies to improve customer experience and engagement. Create marketing campaigns that address customer pain points and offer tailored solutions. Develop and implement strategies to improve customer experience by supporting the field team with training, clear communication, and effective tools to ensure high-quality service. Support sales team and key customers in key customer meetings.

Key Qualifications

Educational Background: Bachelor’s degree in marketing, business, product management, or a related field (MBA often preferred). Experience: 10+ years of experience in marketing, product management, or related fields, with 5+ years of leadership or director-level experience.

Knowledge & Skills

Strategic Thinking: Ability to develop and execute long-term strategies. Market Research Expertise: Strong understanding of market trends, customer behavior, and competitive analysis. Marketing Knowledge: Strong experience in development of value proposition, messaging, and targeted campaigns. Communication Skills: Excellent verbal, written communication and presentation skills utilized for cross-functional collaboration and stakeholder engagement.  Leadership: Proven experience in managing and mentoring teams. Strong leadership and team management skills. Ability to mentor and coach. Analytical Skills: Ability to interpret data and derive actionable insights to inform decisions. Problem-Solving: Ability to anticipate and identify issues and develop creative solutions to address them.  Product Knowledge: Advanced knowledge of the company’s products or services, preferably in the medical or diagnostics field.  Industry Knowledge: Familiarity with the healthcare industry, including trends, challenges, and key players, especially those relevant to the medical devices and diagnostics sector. Understand the processes and regulations in customer working environment (e.g., lab/radiology). Customer Insights: Deep knowledge of customer segments, buying patterns, and decision-making processes. Vendor Management: Experience in selecting, negotiating with, and managing vendors to ensure quality, cost-effectiveness, and alignment with organizational goals.

Additional Requirements:

Travel requirements: On average, 50% travel time – fluctuating with business requirements (10 days/month). Ability to attend in-house, corporate, and field-based meetings as needed. 

The annualized base salary range for this role is $150,000- $268,000 and is bonus eligible. Final compensation packages will ultimately depend on factors including relevant experience, skillset, knowledge, education, business needs and market demand.
