Te kōwhiringa | The Opportunity

The main goal of this job is to manage vegetation control in areas contracted to Downer NZ within Auckland’s water and wastewater networks. This includes mowing, weed eating, and picking up litter to ensure a high-quality and timely service.

You may also help the crew with routine and planned maintenance on Auckland's freshwater and wastewater pump stations and reservoirs. 

This team is dynamic, meaning each day will be different. You'll have the chance to use your current skills and learn new ones. 

You will report to the Electrical and Mechanical Supervisor. Ideally, you should have experience working outdoors independently with a strong work ethic. Knowledge of mechanical issues related to submersible and surface pumps, as well as treatment devices like electrical generators and compressors, would be advantageous.

The successful candidate should have at least two years of experience in open space management or grounds maintenance, including previous experience operating weed eaters and push mowers. Additionally, they should have a solid general knowledge or interest in mechanical systems, as well as:

Experience working independently specifically in  grounds maintenance Experience in water, wastewater, landscape, road construction or civil infrastructure projects Certification in confined spaces & working at heights  Full NZ Driver Licence - Class 1 and Class 2 will be an advantage. Strong focus on Health and Safety Great work ethic & attitude
