Downer holds three (3) Facilities Maintenance and Management Services Contracts with the New Zealand Defence Force (NZDF) for the provision of Facilities Maintenance and Management Services. Our Grounds teams play a key role in delivering services to our customer in a timely, safe, quality and cost effective manner. Our Grounds teams are responsible for the maintenance of camp/base grounds and delivery of grounds services to specification.

Duties for a grounds person include, but are not limited to:

Airfield Mowing of Airfield broad acreage. Sweeping the airfield runways and aprons. Requires a class 2 drivers licence.Litter removal.Weed trimmingWeed/lichen spraying.Garden maintenance and planting.Curb and gutter cleaning and maintenance; andPlant & equipment maintenance.

Nga pūkenga matua | Important Skills

Appropriate grounds industry experience.Experience with various types of machinery and equipment – tractors over 140HP, mowers, vehicles and small plant.Chemical usage qualification (Growsafe).Class 1 & 2 Driver’s License, and WTR an advantage Be physically fit and conditioned and agile.Be a good communicator.Be suitable and able to attain a Defence Security Clearance.
