Primary mission:

Do you enjoy working outdoors with plants in an ocean front environment?  Mar Monte Hotel is seeking a groundskeeper to maintain our landscaping spread over five buildings as well as maintain indoor plants within the buildings. As a groundskeeper, you will provide a variety of landscaping and maintenance duties that will help us create the experience our guests have grown to appreciate.

SCOPE OF WORK + TEAM

Reports to the Chief Engineer, Director of Rooms, and General Manager Supports the Maintenance/Engineering Team

RESPONSIBILITIES 

Trimming trees, plants and shrubs to promote healthy growth and maintain shape Perform maintenance or repair duties using saws, blowers, mowers, drills or other hand tools. Ensure lawns are manicured appropriately. Regularly treat weeds for weed control, weed whip, rake leaves, plant flowers/ shrubs, spread mulch/ woodchips / stones, trim shrubs and hedges, cut and remove tree limbs damaged by adverse weather conditions, and perform other lawn care services as necessary. Maintain and water all indoor plants. Replacing/planting trees, plants and shrubs. Inspect the irrigation system regularly to ensure it is working properly; repair as needed. Pick up trash and debris from common areas, planters and streets daily. Empty common area trash containers as needed. Maintain sidewalks, driveways and parking lots Report all resort maintenance issues and concerns identified while performing daily duties to the manager. Ensure the property is presentable at all times and adheres to Mar Monte Hotel standards. Safely operate vehicles for the purpose of performing job duties. Follow safety procedures while performing duties. Other duties and special projects as assigned.

EXPERIENCE:

Prior Experience: 2+ years’ experience in Groundskeeping role or similar. Possess a valid driver’s license and clean driving record. Education:High School diploma or GED preferred Subject Expertise: Previous groundskeeping experience in the resort/hospitality industry. Demonstrated knowledge of and broad experience in general grounds maintenance techniques. Ability to endure seasonal temperatures as working conditions require constant outdoor work. Valid driver’s license. Proficient skills in operating various hand tools, power equipment, and commercial machinery. Ability to provide legible written reports. Ability to work well independently as well as on a team. Ability to lift at least 25 pounds. Flexible schedule.

OTHER EXPECTATIONS:

Abide by payroll policies, procedures and rules of conduct as stated in the Springboard Hospitality Associate Handbook. Demonstrate a working knowledge of all company safety and security procedures. Travel required: As needed for hotel. Hours Required: 8-Hr Shift/Scheduled days primarily overnight and times may vary based on need.
