As a Lead Grounds Technician with ABM, you will oversee the maintenance and enhancement of the campus landscape and outdoor environments. You’ll lead a team of groundskeepers to ensure that all exterior areas reflect the high standards of SpaceX’s mission-driven culture. This role requires hands-on expertise, leadership, and a proactive approach to site aesthetics, safety, and sustainability.

Responsibilities Supervise and coordinate daily activities of the grounds crew, ensuring timely and high-quality execution of landscaping, irrigation, and grounds maintenance tasks. Perform and oversee tasks such as mowing, trimming, planting, pruning, fertilizing, and pest control. Maintain and troubleshoot irrigation systems, including scheduling, repairs, and water conservation practices. Ensure all outdoor areas are clean, safe, and visually appealing, including walkways, parking lots, and green spaces. Monitor grounds conditions and recommend improvements or repairs. Maintain inventory of landscaping supplies and equipment; coordinate with vendors as needed. Train and mentor grounds staff, promoting safety, efficiency, and continuous improvement. Collaborate with Facilities, Security, and Environmental Health & Safety teams to support site-wide initiatives and events. Basic Qualifications High school diploma or GED. 5+ years of experience in grounds maintenance or landscaping, including 2+ years in a leadership or supervisory role. Proficiency with landscaping tools, equipment, and irrigation systems. Valid driver’s license and clean driving record. Preferred Skills and Experience Certification in horticulture, landscaping, or irrigation systems. Experience with sustainable landscaping practices and native plant care. Strong organizational and communication skills. Ability to read site plans and landscape blueprints. Experience working in a fast-paced, industrial or high-tech environment. Physical Requirements Ability to lift up to 50 lbs, work outdoors in varying weather conditions, and perform physically demanding tasks. Willingness to work flexible hours, including early mornings, weekends, or overtime as needed.
