Job Summary:
Under general supervision, the Grounds Maintenance performs routine groundskeeping and maintenance duties across the hospital campus. This includes operation of landscaping equipment, seasonal grounds care, basic mechanical upkeep of grounds-related machinery, and ensuring all exterior areas are safe and well-maintained for patients, visitors, and staff.

Key Responsibilities:

Clear walkways, entrances, and parking areas of snow, ice, leaves, and debris to maintain safety and accessibility.Inspect grounds regularly and perform minor repairs or report major maintenance needs (e.g., fences, sidewalks, signage).Inspect and maintain parking garages and lots on campus.Operate and maintain tools and equipment including lawnmowers, trimmers, blowers, and snow removal machinery.Maintain outdoor furniture, lighting, and signage.Assist with seasonal decorating and setup for hospital events.Follow hospital safety policies and procedures to ensure compliance with environmental and health regulations.Report any hazards or unsafe conditions immediately to the Facilities Manager or appropriate personnel.Support other maintenance tasks as needed, interior or exterior.Responsible for maintaining any preventative maintenance for their area of responsibility.

Qualifications:

High school diploma or equivalent required.1-2 years of groundskeeping, landscaping, or related experience preferred.Ability to operate and maintain landscaping equipment.Basic knowledge of horticulture and grounds maintenance practices.Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions.Strong attention to detail and a commitment to cleanliness and safety.Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and perform physical labor for extended periods.Valid driver’s license may be required.

Work Schedule:

Full-time; may include early mornings, weekends, or holidays depending on weather conditions or special events.

Working Conditions, Equipment, Physical Demands:

Physical Demands – Medium to Heavy Work.

This position requires frequent physical activity including standing, walking, bending, kneeling, climbing, and lifting. Exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, up to 25 pounds frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds constantly to move objects. Must be able to operate outdoor power equipment and perform manual labor in various weather conditions.
