Purpose:

Grocery Manager directs the operation of the Grocery Department (including Frozen, Dairy & Liquor/Beer), including supervising and training personnel. Manages ordering, receiving, storing, pricing, stocking and Merchandising in the department. May direct and control the operation of the entire store in the absence of the Store Director and Assistant Store Director.
 

Main responsibilities:

Customer Service: Champions customer service programs, handles customer relations positively, and resolves complaints effectively. Operations Management: Assists in planning, ordering, organizing, and directing day-to-day operations of the grocery department. Store Management: Opens and closes the store, supervises employees, and handles customer complaints in the absence of the Store Director. Compliance and Safety: Ensures compliance with sanitation, safety, and security policies, and recommends corrective actions as needed.

We are looking for candidates who possess the following:

Retail and Management Experience: Extensive retail background with prior management experience related to retail operations. Communication and Leadership Skills: Strong written and oral communication skills, good leadership and interpersonal skills, and the ability to manage and develop people. Customer Interaction: Friendly, courteous, takes initiative, and maintains composure in dealing with customers, co-workers, and vendors. Analytical and Administrative Skills: Ability to handle administrative details such as planning, reporting, scheduling, and supervising, with knowledge of basic mathematics and weights and measures. Technical Knowledge: Thorough knowledge of check stand scanning, loss prevention procedures, and operation of Front-End cash registers and ordering equipment. Emergency Procedures: Knowledge and ability to implement emergency procedures in the event of a disaster or equipment/software malfunctions. Physical Requirements: Ability to stand and walk for long periods, frequently lift and maneuver objects up to 80 lbs, and operate hand trucks, carts, and pallet jacks.
