Responsibilities:
1. Provides friendly and engaged guest care at all times.
2. Hires, trains, evaluates and communicates with all Grocery, Dairy, Self-Service Deli and Frozen crew members including counseling and administering discipline when needed.
3. Coaches and cross-trains crew members to encourage their management development in preparation for future promotional opportunities.
4. Writes daily plans and weekly work schedules that anticipate the needs of the business.
5. Actively participates in all phases of grocery stocking. Responsible for the maintenance of displays that ensures our products meet our freshness guarantee at all times.
6. Actively participates in all phases of checking. Handles all forms of tender including cash, checks, WIC, food stamps, gift cards, EBT transactions and coupons.
7. Assumes responsibility for entire store operation in absence of the Store Director and Assistant Store Director including troubleshooting complaints, product inquiries and other special requests.
8. Manages loss prevention efforts within the department in order to ensure a safe shopping experience and workplace.
9. Works towards acquiring product knowledge and expertise within department(s) in order to respond to guest questions and provide informative information about merchandise.
10. Responsible for rotation of merchandise and maintenance of displays ensuring our products meet our freshness guarantee at all times.
11. Maintains accurate records for damaged/spoiled merchandise in accordance with company policies and procedures.
12. Stays updated on weekly specials, coupons and other company promotions that encourage an environment that delights our guests.
13. Works in and cultivates a team oriented work environment.
14. Store is open seven days a week and may require weekend, holiday and shift work.
Qualifications: • Passion for serving people and creating a guest focused work environment. • 1-2 years of department operations experience or equivalent education to be knowledgeable of the nature of every position within the department. • Passion for serving people and creating a guest focused work environment. • Math skills necessary, but not limited to following recipes, completing reports and calculating sales and discounts. • Ability to work in wet environment in order to clean and sanitize tools, pots/pans and utensils using cleaning chemicals and detergents without allergic reaction. • Ability to work around food ingredients, produce and spices without allergic reaction. • Excellent communication skills with the ability to communicate with guests and crew members in professional and courteous manner. This includes answering telephone calls and using in-store intercom system. • Must be at least 18 years of age due to equipment use and work environment. • Current state Food Handler’s Permit may be required. Work Environment:
Work space will be primarily on sales floor with exposure to ice/wet areas as well as refrigerated areas and freezers. May be required to join a labor union. Physical activity: Lifting, standing/walking, bending, twisting, reaching, fingering, pushing/pulling, sitting
Tools and Equipment: Box knife, computer, printer, Telzon, telephone, shopping cart, garbage compactor, bailer, fork lift (with certification), pallet jack, flat bed, hand truck, ladder, calculator, mop, broom, floor squeegee. Cleaning supplies: bleach, hand soap, hand sanitizer, glass and multi-surface cleaner, floor cleaner. Personal Protective Equipment: N/A
The pay range is $28.00 to $29.00 per hour, but no less than the local minimum wage. Starting rates will vary based on things like location, experience, qualifications, and the terms of any applicable collective bargaining agreement.
Dependent on length of service, hours worked and any applicable collective bargaining agreement, benefits include medical, dental, vision, disability and life insurance, sick pay (accrued based on hours worked), PTO/Vacation pay (accrued based on hours worked), paid holidays (between 7-9 days annually), bereavement pay, and retirement benefits (pension and/or 401k eligibility).
