GRC Specialist
Job Description The GRC Specialist is responsible for developing, maintaining, and enhancing the organizations governance, risk, and compliance framework. This includes writing and maintaining policies and procedures, supporting GRC software platforms, and ensuring compliance with internal standards and external regulations such as NIST, DFARS, ITAR, and EAR. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in compliance, technical writing, and risk management, with the ability to collaborate across departments and support audits, assessments, and training. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Develop, write, and maintain clear and compliant policies, procedures, and documentation aligned with regulatory frameworks (e.g., NIST SP 800-171, DFARS, ITAR, EAR). Support the implementation and administration of GRC software tools. Support risk assessments and internal audits to identify gaps and recommend mitigation strategies. Collaborate with IT, Legal, Contracts, and Engineering teams to ensure compliance with cybersecurity and export control requirements. Maintain classification records for controlled data and products (e.g., ECCN, USML, HTS, Schedule B). Assist in preparing and managing compliance documentation. Track and report on compliance metrics, audit findings, and remediation efforts. Provide training and awareness programs related to compliance and risk management. Stay current with evolving regulations and industry best practices. Skills and Requirements -5+ years of experience in GRC, compliance & technical writing skills -Experience with regulatory frameworks such as; NIST SP 800-171, 853, or 2701, DFARS, ITAR, EAR, and CMMC -(open to travel up to 20%) for audits, training, or project support.
