Graphic Prepress Specialist - 1st Shift

Interested in supporting a dynamic Graphics Department? Belmark is currently seeking energetic and motivated Graphics Prepress Specialist to be responsible for working with and troubleshooting native customer files from applications such as Adobe Illustrator, Adobe Acrobat, Adobe Photoshop, Microsoft Word, etc. Files are created and saved as PDFs in Adobe Illustrator, converted to ArtPro, trapped, ripped, and digitally output to create proofs. From there, final plating files (tiff or len) are created and used to create printing plates for use in the Flexographic and Offset manufacturing operations.

Schedule:

1st Shift Monday - Friday; 8:00am - 4:30pm

Pay:

1st Shift: $20.25 - $22.25 per hour

Summary

Responsible for preparing digital graphic files for flexographic, offset and digital printing utilizing Adobe and Esko graphic editing applications. Ideal candidates possess a strong attention to detail and are highly flexible while working in fast-paced environment.

Principle Duties & Responsibilities

Prepare customer supplied digital graphic designs for printing in flexible packaging, pressure sensitive labels and folding carton business units. Demonstrate a basic understanding of prepress principles and print specifications that apply to flexo, offset and digital printing methods. Understand how to apply print specifications to packaging graphic files to provide optimal file output for consistent printability. Demonstrate a high level of attention to detail in order to minimize errors and to remain compliant with department quality standards. Manage all files in accordance with standard operating procedures. Ability to review and understand basic packaging layout instructions and effectively collaborate with peers to ensure proof accuracy. Ability to effectively troubleshoot challenging graphic designs that are not optimized for printability or automation. Generate color contract proofs and verify for accuracy. Interact with graphics personnel, management, sales, and customer service on a daily basis. Responsible to follow all safety procedures as required by the role, and to nurture a food safety culture by adhering to all Safe Quality Foods requirements. May perform other duties as assigned by Graphics leadership team.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Required

Proficient with various color software including, but not limited to: Adobe Photoshop/Illustrator, Esko Automation Engine/ArtPro+, and GMG color management solutions. Knowledge of flexographic, offset and digital printing is strongly preferred. Prefer an understanding of expanded gamut printing and separation techniques. Knowledge of and the ability to effectively utilize the English language. Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide whole numbers, decimals and fractions. Ability to operate a Mac computer. Ability to operate a variety of standard office equipment. Ability to work effectively in both independent and team environments. Ability to meet and exceed deadlines. Regular attendance is an essential function of the position. May be required to work overtime. Ability to read, comprehend and follow detailed written and oral instructions. Must be able to communicate and answer questions in a professional and friendly manner. Must be able to resolve problems, handle conflict and make effective decisions under pressure. Ability to give, receive and analyze information. Any combination equivalent to graduation from high school. Ability to: stand for 25% of work time; walk 25% of work time; and sit for 50% of work time. Ability to reach above shoulders 30% of work time; and lift up to 25 pounds or less for 25% of work time. ???????Ability to: see clearly at 20 inches or less; identify and distinguish colors; adjust the eye to bring an object into sharp focus.
