Grant Accountant
Description We are looking for a detail-oriented and experienced Grant Accountant to join our team in Miami, Florida. This Contract-to-Permanent position involves managing grant-related financial processes, ensuring compliance with funding requirements, and maintaining accurate financial records. The ideal candidate will lead a team of professionals to oversee grant billing, budgets, and reporting while ensuring alignment with organizational standards and regulations. Responsibilities: • Supervise and train Grant Billing Specialists to ensure accurate invoicing, compliance with grant requirements, and adherence to internal controls. • Oversee the review and accuracy of all grant invoices and reimbursement requests in accordance with contract terms and funding agency guidelines. • Monitor and manage grant budgets and expenditures, ensuring proper documentation, allowability of costs, and accurate billing. • Maintain detailed and audit-ready financial records, including grant billing transactions and journal entries. • Collaborate with program directors, fiscal staff, and other departments to align financial reporting with grant performance and compliance. • Review accounts receivable related to grant billing and ensure timely collection of funds from all funding sources. • Ensure compliance with all applicable federal, state, and local regulations, as well as organizational policies. • Provide financial data and documentation to support internal reviews, external audits, and funder monitoring visits. • Develop and implement efficient billing schedules and tracking systems to manage program spending and grant fund drawdowns. • Investigate and resolve discrepancies or issues related to grant billing in coordination with relevant teams or funders. Requirements • Proven experience in grant management and fund administration. • Proficiency with financial software, including Abila MIP and NAV (Net Asset Value). • Strong understanding of government grants and their compliance requirements. • Exceptional organizational and leadership skills to manage a team effectively. • Ability to analyze financial data and ensure accuracy in reporting and documentation. • Knowledge of federal, state, and local regulations related to grant funding. • Excellent problem-solving and communication skills for resolving billing issues. • Experience supporting audits and preparing financial reports for funders.
