Grant Accountant
Description We are looking for a skilled Grant Accountant to join our team in Fort Worth, Texas, supporting the financial operations of a nonprofit organization. This position requires expertise in managing government grants and contracts, preparing budgets, and ensuring compliance with financial regulations. The ideal candidate will bring advanced accounting knowledge to oversee fiscal controls and contribute to the organization’s mission. Responsibilities: • Develop and manage budgets for government grants and contracts, ensuring accuracy and compliance. • Reconcile payments received with billing statements and services provided. • Perform detailed account reconciliations, including balance sheet accounts. • Prepare audit schedules, financial reports, and compliance documentation for government agencies. • Investigate and resolve discrepancies in financial records and reports. • Monitor departmental and program budgets to ensure alignment with approved allocations. • Adhere to internal control procedures to maintain financial integrity across all accounting functions. • Generate and review compliance reports in accordance with government and contract requirements. • Collaborate with the Director of Accounting on projects and reports as needed. Requirements • Bachelor’s degree in accounting or a related field is required. • A minimum of three years of accounting experience, including managing government grants and contracts. • Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel, with intermediate Excel skills preferred. • Familiarity with accounting software such as Concur and Abila (formerly Sage) is advantageous. • Nonprofit accounting experience is a plus. • At least one year of supervisory experience is preferred. • Strong analytical skills with the ability to prepare and review financial statements. • Knowledge of grant accounting practices and compliance requirements.
