Description We are looking for an experienced Grant Accountant to join our team in San Antonio, Texas. This Contract-to-permanent position offers an opportunity to work in a dynamic environment, overseeing financial reporting and compliance for grant operations. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in governmental accounting and be adept at managing complex financial systems and processes. Responsibilities: • Prepare and analyze financial reports, ensuring accuracy and compliance with local, state, and federal guidelines. • Maintain and oversee accounting systems, procedures, and controls to ensure proper fund allocation and reporting. • Review and approve payment documentation from vendors and subcontractors, ensuring timely and accurate processing. • Perform general ledger reconciliations and prepare periodic financial reports. • Provide technical assistance to program managers, ensuring proper classification and distribution of expenditures. • Assist in developing cost allocation plans for shared agency costs and grant-funded programs. • Audit financial transactions, including journal entries, payments, and vouchers, to validate accuracy. • Monitor grant budgets to ensure expenditures align with approved limits and provide variance analysis. • Stay updated on federal and state fiscal requirements and apply them to financial recordkeeping and reporting. • Conduct sample tests to verify financial entries and compliance with established procedures. Requirements • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Business Administration with a focus on Accounting. • Minimum of three years of experience in governmental accounting, including grant accounting and fiscal monitoring. • Proficiency in advanced Microsoft Excel functions such as pivot tables, VLOOKUP, SUMIFS, and formulas. • Familiarity with automated accounting systems and financial management software. • Knowledge of Uniform Administrative Requirements, cost principles, and audit requirements for federal and state awards. • Strong understanding of financial administration, budget control, and fiscal accounting policies. • Demonstrated ability to perform account reconciliations and oversee month-end close processes. • Experience in non-profit accounting and managing grant-funded operations.
