Description We are looking for an experienced Grant Accountant to join our team on a contract basis in San Antonio, Texas. In this role, you will play a critical part in managing grant accounting activities and ensuring compliance with governmental accounting standards. This position requires a detail-oriented individual who can work independently while delivering accurate financial reports and analysis. Responsibilities: • Prepare and oversee the creation of financial analyses, tenant ledgers, and detailed reports. • Design and maintain accounting systems, procedures, and controls to ensure accurate financial management. • Monitor the proper allocation and expenditure of funds in compliance with federal, state, and local guidelines. • Conduct general ledger reconciliations and produce periodic financial reports with precision and timeliness. • Provide technical support to program managers, ensuring expenditures align with budgetary and regulatory requirements. • Develop cost allocation plans for shared agency costs in collaboration with the Budget Officer. • Review and validate expenditures to ensure budget limits are adhered to and financial variances are minimized. • Audit and approve payment documentation, ensuring accuracy and timely processing of subcontractor and vendor payments. • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of federal and state fiscal requirements related to grant accounting and auditing. • Perform sample testing to verify transaction accuracy and prepare journal entries reflecting the financial status of projects. Requirements • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Business Administration, or a related field with a focus on Accounting. • Minimum of three years of experience in governmental accounting, including grant accounting and fiscal monitoring. • Proficiency in automated accounting systems and advanced Microsoft Excel functions such as pivot tables, VLOOKUP, and formulas. • Familiarity with accounting software such as NetSuite, Oracle, SAP, and Financial Management Systems. • Strong knowledge of federal and state award guidelines, including Part 200 Uniform Administrative Requirements. • Experience with financial administration, budget control, and fiscal accounting policies. • Demonstrated skills in account reconciliation, journal entries, and full-cycle accounting. • Ability to work independently and deliver accurate financial analyses within tight deadlines.
