Government Affairs and Public Policy Manager, Google Cloud, Emerging Markets (English)

Minimum qualifications: + Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience. + 10 years of experience working on technology policy issues within government, think tanks, public interest groups, law, or relevant industry associations. + 10 years of experience working in public affairs, political communications, or political campaigns, or within government. + Ability to communicate and write in English fluently to support client relationship management in this region. Preferred qualifications: + 10 years of experience in a government/public sector related industry. + 10 years of experience with public policy and technology policy issues and stakeholders across public and private industry associations. + Experience working within government, think tanks, public interest groups or the field of corporate public policy. + Excellent communication skills. The Government Affairs and Public Policy (GAPP) team leads Google’s engagement with governments, policymakers and regulators on public policy issues that are important to the company and the technology industry. The Cloud GAPP team works directly with the Google Cloud product area and business leaders to advise on public policy issues and deliver the best of Google Cloud to the public sector. Our team's mission is to help Google, governments, and civil society responsibly navigate the social, political and economic issues of our time. As a member of Google’s Government Affairs and Public Policy team, you will be part of a global government affairs team, collaborating across regions, product areas, and functions. You will combine creativity and intellectual excellence with the organizational skills to manage various campaigns, projects and initiatives. In this role, you will advocate for Google to bring external perspectives back into the company to inform the perception and direction. You are passionate about the opportunity to shape the future of how we use and build technology for everyone. + Identify policy issues that may affect Google, and understand the impact on Google business and users, and participate in policy campaigns with clear goals to shape a policy or set of policies. + Monitor and research current and relevant emerging public policy issues considering how Google should work with allied organizations and industries and work with business-area leadership, Legal, Marketing, Trust and Safety, and PR to develop and launch policy-friendly products. + Address policy and government relations problems, and develop and execute policy strategy in a way that benefits the users and business.
