Job Description

About the role:

As the GMS Global Customs & Trade Compliance Excellence Management, you will be focused on delivering a unique customer experience through a self-driving, compliant, and regionally unique distribution network, aligned with Takeda’s commitment to the Patient, People, and Planet. You will be a subject matter expert (SME), providing best practices to plants on transportation, customs, and trade compliance processes—including LLP, SAP GTS, SAP LES, and self-filing tools—while supporting the Global Business Process Owner for Transportation Operations and Customs & Trade Compliance. You will ensure the efficient and compliant transport of intermediates and finished goods between Takeda sites and contract manufacturing organizations (CMOs), and the replenishment of products to third-party logistics providers (3PLs) and distributors. This includes active monitoring of import and export activities and overseeing the end-to-end transportation process following regulatory and operational requirements. You will report into the Lead, US Transportation and Customs Operations.

How you will contribute:Develop and implement local Customs & Trade Compliance (CTC) controls and procedures associated with the entry, classification, valuation, and country of origin of imported and exported manufacturing raw materials, finished drug products, intermediate drug substances, equipment, samples, and related recordkeeping practices according to Global CTC policy and operating proceduresObtain and maintain shipment specific licenses/certificates for import/export from competent authority ie. FWS, USDA, and CDCEnsure complete and accurate import and export declarations supporting customs brokers as needed and establish a pre and post declaration check processDrive KPIs, Trade data reporting, duty spend and duty savings, continuous improvement and drive efficiency throughout the import and export processesResolve Customs issues and hold with PGA promptly to avoid delaysTrack ISF filings for ocean shipmentsOversee customs brokers in the country: KPIs, budget including creating POs, reviewing invoices, develop broker SOPs, adherence to contract obligations, performance, reporting of export and import data as per Takeda requirements & POAsManage billing requests from customs brokers and ensure all ACH payments are allocated to correct cost-centersPerform reconciliation filings on a yearly basis to ensure appropriate customs valuations inclusive of intercompany transfer pricing adjustmentsSupport plants on HS and ECCN classification and database and SAP/GTS CTC Master data creation, origin and preference determination, customs value and duty program utilization as per GCTC proceduresIdentify risks and opportunities and report to Global Transportation Ops and GCTC teamAct as SPOC and support customs inspection + internal and auditsSecure Customs Certifications (AEO, CTPAT; IPR etc)Maintain all responses for CTPAT in portal with up to date contacts and business information and make annual submission to CustomsAct as SME supporting BPO / GOP Global Transportation Standards & Guidelines definition and Training to deploy standardized & harmonized processesIdentify duty mitigation program(pharmaceutical appendix, duty drawback), analyze cost benefits and lead implementationSupport SAP GTS/LES system implementation, including Restricted Party Screening, Export Controls, and Classification management. Support deployment of LLPSupport training to local employees and identify, quantify, escalate, and mitigate compliance risks and gapsCoordinate the transportation of goods, both domestically and internationally, ensuring timely delivery and adherence to shipping schedulesManage Deviations or Cases and conduct comprehensive investigations in collaboration with QA GDP and GCTC to define CAPAs for commercial and non-commercial shipmentsParticipate in QBR and Performance management. of LSPs/Brokers/LLP Minimum Requirements/Qualifications:Bachelor's degree in logistics, supply chain management, international business, or equivalentProven experience in logistics operations, customs compliance, and trade compliance5+ years of experience with customs regulations and international trade complianceProficient in using logistics software and systemsKnowledge of relevant industry standards and certifications (e.g., CTPAT, AEO)US Customs Broker License preferredMore about us:

U.S. Base Salary Range:

$86,500.00 - $135,960.00

The estimated salary range reflects an anticipated range for this position. The actual base salary offered may depend on a variety of factors, including the qualifications of the individual applicant for the position, years of relevant experience, specific and unique skills, level of education attained, certifications or other professional licenses held, and the location in which the applicant lives and/or from which they will be performing the job. The actual base salary offered will be in accordance with state or local minimum wage requirements for the job location. 

U.S. based employees may be eligible for short-term and/ or long-term incentives. U.S. based employees may be eligible to participate in medical, dental, vision insurance, a 401(k) plan and company match, short-term and long-term disability coverage, basic life insurance, a tuition reimbursement program, paid volunteer time off, company holidays, and well-being benefits, among others. U.S. based employees are also eligible to receive, per calendar year, up to 80 hours of sick time, and new hires are eligible to accrue up to 120 hours of paid vacation.
