Main job function

The Wind Farm Plant Manager is responsible for the overall Operations and Maintenance (O&M) of the Impofu Wind Farms Cluster (Impofu East, Impofu West, and Impofu North), overseeing multiple contractors under a full-service arrangement. The role involves coordinating maintenance activities, overseeing contractors and site personnel, ensuring compliance with GRM 2.1 regulations and maintaining alignment

The Plant Manager will ensure safe, efficient, and reliable operation while fostering strong stakeholder relationships, including Eskom, local municipalities, landowners and community consortiums. The role also involves managing financial budgets, plant KPIs and technical compliance with South African grid codes.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering or a related technical field (accredited by a recognised South African institution). GMR 2.1 Certified (Government Certificate of Competency advantageous). Minimum 5 years of experience in wind farm O&M or similar industrial power plant operations. Experienced in MV/HV equipment, grid code compliance, and SCADA systems. Strong knowledge of South Africa’s energy market and Eskom regulations. Proficiency in SAP, SAS, CKS, JIRA, and CMS for plant management. Experience in contractor management, safety enforcement, and performance monitoring. Valid South African driver’s license. Ability to travel and work in remote locations as required.

 

 Criteria

Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, AutoCAD, and project scheduling tools. Strong leadership, stakeholder management, and communication skills. Analyze plant data, generate reports, and optimise performance. High attention to detail and organisational skills. Problem-solving mindset with a proactive approach to operational challenges.
