Global Vendor Tooling Supervisor

Supervises his/her Vendor Tooling Technical Team including adherence to Ford Corporate Policies & Procedures, execution of the VT process, resource allocation, development planning, timely and target-oriented way of working, priority setting. Execution of the VT Process includes
Early On-Boarding EOB executed on Components identified as long lead for feasibility
Effective Sourcing Approach insured by validating tool shop capability
Tool shop identification to insure competitive bidding
Transparency ensured by use of Ford’s Tool Break Down Sheets
Negotiations timely finalized in support of Program Finance Freeze
Previous experience with Tooling commodity and corporate business acumen
Strong Servant Leadership skills – provide empathetic support for employees to get through work/life issues
Ability to work with others and foster collaboration, can-do positive attitude, self-motivated to take responsibility, drive for results, strong technical competency
Ability to motivate a team of people to be accountable to Ford objectives

High degree of emotional intelligence
Previous people management (internal or external to Ford)
Ability to manage multiple critical assignments with resilience to pivot nimbly when required
5+ Years of experience in tool related field (tool construction, assembly integration, manufacturing feasibility, processing, cost estimating)
Experience in cross-functional Ford roles would be advantageous, with strong grasp of GPDS
1-2 years as a GVT Tech is highly desirable
College bachelor degree preferred, HS Diploma or GED required
Impeccable communication skills required
Strong negotiation skills
Global Vendor Tooling Technical Supervisor is responsible for the following objectives:
Single point of contact and co-ordination regarding all issues for suppliers and engineering on tooling manufactured in China for all commodities on all Global Programs Develop supply base/commodity strategies to ensure that those strategies are implemented successfully Coordinate GPDS (Global Product Development System) Part Pedigree Deliverables for all build events Ensure production tool timing and plans meet homeline delivery of tooling for TT requirement Develop analytical tools and strategies to deliver BIC (Best in Class) tool performance and timing. Responsible for cost status and target in cooperation with GVT buyers, program, engineering, cost estimating and purchasing. Monitors cost status and delivery to target of his/her team’s commodities and represents his team status in GVT leadership meetings. Identifies key opportunities to deliver efficiencies in vendor tooling. Work closely with Ford To4 leadership to deliver quality, delivery and cost objectives. Resolves issues brought forward by his / her team members in first instance by himself/herself by engaging engineering, program, STA, Supply Chain, Cost Estimating, part suppliers, and tool suppliers to drive GPDS timing deliverables with required pedigree parts. Manage positive relationships with the supply base and/or plant personnel by: acting like a partner, being accountable, trusting and being trustworthy, communicating with consistency, being fact based while driving for results, thinking value not just price Establish tone of ethical business operations to avoid any fraud, bribery or corruption in order to maximize the relationship value Monitor financial health and technical depth of supply base including follow-up on further development and establishment of back-up plan in case of risk Monitor quality of supply base including follow-up on further development/improvement and establishment of back-up plan in case of risk Develop a world class tooling supply base capable of delivering the quality, cost and timing objectives of Vehicle Operations and Manufacturing Operations product programs. Identify and develop tool supply base for any emerging technologies working together with PD Ensure long term partner suppliers are capable of meeting quality, cost, timing and technology expectations. Interfaces closely with Global Vendor Tooling teams in North America, South America and Europe to deliver Global and Regional programs, to exchange best practices, external part and to tool supplier information and tooling market conditions.
