The Global Transportation Manager is a key individual contributor position within the Global Transportation team, reporting directly to the Senior Manager of Global Transportation. This role manages the international heavyweight air and ocean freight categories, ensuring alignment with the company’s cost, service, and quality objectives. This individual contributor position requires oversight of carrier performance, contract negotiation, and continuous improvement initiatives to optimize CommScope’s global logistics operations. This is a hybrid role, and you’ll be expected to be in our Richardson, TX office at least on Tuesdays and Thursdays.
How You'll Help Us Connect the World:
Operations:
Coordinate with internal stakeholders and external partners to ensure smooth and timely freight flows and assist and support RFI, RFQ, and RFP processes and requirements with bid process execution and negotiation of transportation pricing, service, and quality. Analyze suppliers' proposals and cost structures to support data-driven decision-making. Serve as a go-to partner for spend initiatives and supplier engagements related to International Freight Forwarders, Air, Ocean, and Small Package/Parcel.
Vendor Relationship:
Develop and manage transportation vendors' performance through key performance indicators (KPIs), including but not limited to: On-Time Pickup, On-Time Delivery, Transit Time Variance, Invoice Accuracy, Spot vs. Contract Utilization, and Route Guide Compliance. Support the development, negotiation, and compliance oversight of all freight forwarder agreements and partnerships. Build and maintain strong vendor relationships while ensuring ongoing contract management and performance tracking through defined KPIs.
Continuous Improvement:
Identify opportunities for network optimization and cost consolidation across transportation modes. Develop and maintain visibility tools and alert reporting for proactive issue resolution. Drive logistics process improvements through analysis and critical thinking, supporting long-term efficiency and service enhancements. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to align transportation execution with business priorities.
Required Qualifications for Consideration:
Bachelor's degree and five or more years of progressive experience in transportation procurement and capacity management, with a strong track record of delivering cost-effective and service-oriented logistics solutions. Deep knowledge of global freight markets, familiarity with international freight forwarders, ocean carriers, and air cargo providers. Experience executing complex sourcing events. Demonstrated ability to manage and optimize vendor relationships, including performance monitoring and issue resolution.
You Will Excite Us If You Have:
Hands-on experience working with enterprise resource planning (ERP), such as SAP, and Transportation Management (TM) Strong analytical, negotiation, and communication skills, with the ability to influence cross-functional teams and external partners. Demonstrated contract negotiation skills.
