The Global Trade Controls (GTC) Risk & Advisory Director will drive the GTC risk strategy across the Innovative Medicines and Medical Technology segments in collaboration with cross-functional partners, including but not limited to Global Transportation and Trade Operations, Health Care Compliance, and the Global Legal Organization. The Director will promote awareness of global trade risk profiles, ensure implementation of compliance solutions and direct GTC Acquisition and Divestiture (A&D) work. As a member of the Global Trade Controls Leadership Team, the Director will prepare, coordinate, and present global trade risk assessment and advisory efforts to the GTC Leadership Team and support a team of Global Trade Controls professionals operating across a complex regulatory and international trade landscape.
Key Responsibilities:
The GTC Risk & Advisory Director will, among other responsibilities:
+ Deploy and update GTC risk strategy using established tools and controls structures in partnership with the GTC Leadership Team, related compliance functions and regional teams
+ Lead GTC participation in the Enterprise Risk Management strategy
+ Ensure Global Trade cross-functional stakeholders are informed of key regulations and risks in collaboration with the GTC Import and Export Controls leaders
+ Advise on and coordinate responses to government requests, audits, and disclosures across global teams
+ Direct A&D and network design planning/advisory work across global team
+ Communicate remediation efforts and manage issue resolution through scorecards, KPIs and action plans aligned with enterprise strategy.
+ Participate in and influence compliance forums across J&J and externally.
+ Risk adjust global third-party supplier services and supervise third party providers, where required
+ Continually improve our culture of controls, accountability, and resiliency
Qualifications
Education:
+ A Bachelor’s Degree is required. A Masters or other Advanced Degree is preferred.
+ A minimum of 10 years overall business experience is required, preferably with a focus in Global Trade Compliance, Risk Management and management of large cross-functional programs.
+ Relevant customs license / certification (for ex, Licensed Customs Broker), if applicable
Experience and Skills:
Required:
+ Demonstrated ability to leverage import and export regulatory knowledge to prioritize and remediate risk in complex business environments.
+ Demonstrated ability to communicate and action risk issue across multiple regions.
+ Experience defining, assessing, and measuring country specific regulatory compliance programs against global SOPs and standards.
+ Proven track record to deliver complex programs through influence rather than authority.
+ Ability to promote a strategy and motivate change to transform organizations, via strong engagement/communication.
Preferred:
+ Experience with Global Risk tracking and monitoring systems
+ Prior experience implementing global trade compliance programs in Life Sciences/Health Care industry.
Other:
+ The position may require up to 25% domestic and international travel.
+ The position will require a 3-day per week in office attendance.
