Job Purpose

BorgWarner PowerDrive Systems is currently looking for a “dynamic, results driven” individual to join as a Global Supply Management (GSM) Intern in our Summer Internship Program.

In this role, and under direct supervision of the Director, Advanced Purchasing, the GSM Summer Intern will be primarily responsible for supporting ALMs, GCMs, and Prototype Buyers in the sourcing activity of new prototype and production components and the launch readiness of BorgWarner PowerDrive Systems’ future product launches for the Indiana Technical Center (ITC).

Key Responsibilities

Support the sourcing activity of new prototype and production programsParticipate in supplier negotiations and support the preparation for those negotiationsParticipate in cross functional teams including Engineering, Program Management, Supplier Development and Manufacturing Site TeamSupport Advance Launch Managers (ALMs) in managing launch reports, cost walks, and one-page summariesSupport ALMs and Global Commodity Managers (GCMs) in the sourcing of new componentsSupport ALMs launch readiness reviews with the cross-functional team which would include follow-up on action items assigned from those reviews helping to drive accountability within the teamSAP supplier master data base maintenanceSupport management of supplier tooling including the online supplier tooling databaseNew supplier creationParticipate in prototype and production supplier scorecard meetingsParticipate in program kickoff reviews with the rest of the GSM Team to outline key program deliverablesAttend and support on-site prototype and production supplier visitsAssist in researching new prototype suppliersAssist in exploring new technologies that provide a competitive advantageAttend weekly PowerDrive Systems PTC (Propulsion Technical Center) and ITC overview and update sessionsHost weekly meeting to review project statusOther projects as deemed necessary by the ALM and GCM TeamsExhibit overall process discipline within the GSM function

What We Are Looking For

Currently enrolled in an accredited college, university, or be a graduate from an accredited collegeGPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale, or B average, upon initial hire dateSAP experience preferredNegotiation & contract management experience preferredSupplier relationship management & development preferredUnderstanding of manufacturing processes preferredDetailed OrientedDemonstrated ability to manage multiple tasksStrong written and verbal communication skillsExcellent organizational and interpersonal skills•Highly collaborative and team orientedHigh proficiency in MSOffice, especially Word, Excel, and PowerPointSelf-motivated individualAbility to interface at all levels within the organization in a professional manner
