JOB SUMMARY:
The Global Sourcing Manager – Strategic Value & Supplier Development plays a critical leadership role in shaping Polaris’ global sourcing strategy and supplier capabilities. This position is responsible for developing long-term commodity strategies, driving cost and value improvements, and building a robust, localized, and high-performing supply base. The role requires strong cross-functional collaboration with Category Sourcing, Engineering, Operations, Product Development, and Legal to ensure supplier strategies align with business goals, product roadmaps, and operational resilience.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
Strategic Sourcing & Category Leadership
Lead the development and execution of multi-year commodity strategies aligned with business unit goals and product development plans.
Collaborate with Category Sourcing to establish and maintain Approved Supplier Lists (ASL) and ensure alignment with technology roadmaps and NPI initiatives.
Conduct industry benchmarking, supplier identification, commercial negotiations, and internal approvals for sourcing decisions.
Manage annual product cost budgeting, quarterly forecasting, and long-range cost/value creation planning.
Supplier Development & Performance
Identify, assess, and onboard new suppliers aligned with strategic sourcing and regional localization goals.
Conduct supplier evaluations (e.g., Rapid Plant Assessments) to identify capability and capacity gaps.
Lead capability and capacity expansion initiatives with existing suppliers, especially for NPIs and transitions.
Manage onboarding of new suppliers, including guiding them through Polaris’ standards, manuals, and pre-negotiation of commercial terms.
Develop and manage Tier 2 supplier relationships to strengthen the extended supply chain and leverage economies of scale.
Ensure adherence to APQP processes and manage ROI analysis for tooling investments.
Cross-Functional Collaboration & Leadership
Partner with Quality, Operations, and Central & Material Planning to ensure supplier performance meets corporate and commodity team objectives.
Coordinate cross-functional activities and maintain structured documentation and issue tracking.
Support supplier onboarding and exit planning and lead escalation management as needed.
Build and lead high-performing teams, including hiring, coaching, and performance management.
Performance Metrics & Deliverables:
Led people management and talent development initiatives focused on sourcing activities.
Developed and maintained a supplier identification matrix with capability and capacity mapping by region and category.
Built and nurtured strategic relationships with public and private sector channels to broaden sourcing opportunities.
Completed Risk and Performance Assessments (RPAs) for all evaluated suppliers.
Identified and developed localized suppliers aligned with targeted category needs.
Delivered monthly progress reports to sourcing leadership and key stakeholders.
Created and implemented six strategic sourcing improvement initiatives annually.
Established clear strategies to foster a culture of innovation across the Chassis category supply base.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Required:
Bachelor’s degree in Business, Engineering, Supply Chain, or related field; MBA or Master’s preferred.
8+ years of relevant experience in sourcing, procurement, or supply chain; experience in sales or engineering a plus.
2+ years of direct leadership experience or demonstrated ability to lead cross-functional teams.
Strong knowledge of commodity/category management, supplier development, and sourcing best practices.
Proven ability to influence a matrixed organization and communicate effectively with executive leadership.
Experience with project management, cost modeling (TCO), and supplier performance metrics.
Proficiency in tools such as PowerPoint, Excel, and sourcing platforms; APICS CPIM or ISM certifications preferred.
WORKING CONDITIONS:
Fast-paced office environment with 50–60% travel, including international (Europe and Southeast Asia).
