As a Global Sourcing Manager – Mechanical, you will support the sourcing and supplier management of mechanical components across Sonos’ supply chain, primarily focused in South East Asia. This role is ideal for a driven and hands-on sourcing professional with experience in high-volume consumer electronics and a strong interest in growing sourcing strategy, supplier management, and cost analysis capabilities.
You will work with cross-functional teams including Engineering, Project Management, and Supplier Quality to ensure supply continuity, cost competitiveness, and product quality throughout the product life cycle. This role will provide exposure to global sourcing processes and offer opportunities for professional growth. Additionally, applicants should have in-depth knowledge of raw materials, manufacturing processes, and cost structure in the areas of molded plastics, rubber, extruded and die cast metals, and all finishing operations (punching, stamping, CNC’ing, anodizing, painting).
The following skills and experiences are required for this role:
+ Support all sourcing activities throughout product lifecycle: cost and supply management.
+ Collaborate with Design & Engineering to ensure designs are optimized for high-volume manufacturing and meet cost, quality, and cosmetic requirements.
+ Define and maintain sourcing strategies that align with Sonos’ design, volume, quality, and cost objectives.
+ Assist with the cost modeling and estimation tools to guide design trade-offs and optimize product cost during development.
+ Continuously research and monitor the industry trends: materials, processes, supplier capacity, M&A, and competitors.
+ Support and review all supplier price, capacity, and contract negotiations.
+ Ensure suppliers have sufficient capacity to meet forecasted volumes; manage forecasting and commitments.
+ Partner with Supplier Quality Engineering to drive yield and cost improvements initiatives.
+ Identify and manage value engineering projects for sustaining products.
+ Support bi-annual supplier performance reviews and drive follow-up actions.
+ Collaborate with US & Asia GSM teams to localize supply chain in China, Vietnam, and Malaysia within budget & schedule.
+ Work closely with CM to qualify local suppliers, and manage the relationship between SEA suppliers with CM.
The successful candidate must meet the following requirements
+ 4–7 years in mechanical part’s supply chain, sourcing, or manufacturing within high-volume consumer electronics; background in mechanical sourcing and familiarity with SEA supply chain (Mechanical, PKG).
+ Solid NPI management experience and proven ability to quickly adapt to new technologies and sourcing environments.
+ Skilled in applying analytical methods to solve problems with a strategic, results-driven mindset.
+ Strong track record in supplier relationship management, including price and contract negotiations.
+ Excellent communication and presentation skills in Mandarin and English, both written and spoken;
+ Ability to effectively work in multicultural, global teams with understanding of regional sourcing dynamics in China, Vietnam, and Malaysia.
+ Capable of making sound business decisions with incomplete data, balancing technical and business factors.
+ In addition, the candidate should have a bachelor degree, preferably in engineering, from an accredited university, and be willing and able to travel.
