Global Quality Systems Manager - This position may be based at our Corporate Headquarters in Decatur, Illinois (USA), at any ADM manufacturing NA location, or in a location within ±3 hours of the Central Time Zone. Position reports to the Director Global Quality Management
Job Summary:
The Global Quality Systems Manager will be responsible for the development, implementation, maintenance, and continuous improvement of the corporate Quality Management System (QMS) across all ADM business units worldwide. This role will ensure that our QMS is robust, standardized, and compliant with relevant GFSI-benchmarked standards (such as FSSC 22000, SQF, BRCGS), customer requirements, and global regulatory landscapes (FDA, EFSA, Health Canada, etc.). The incumbent will leverage best-in-class QMS practices from leading food and ingredient companies to drive a culture of quality excellence and operational efficiency.
Key Responsibilities & Accountabilities:
Global QMS Development & Documentation:Design, develop, and deploy global QMS policies, procedures, standards, and work instructions aligned with ISO 9001 principles and tailored to the diverse processes within ADM’s business units.Ensure QMS documentation is current, controlled, accessible, and effectively communicated across all global sites.Integrate requirements from various GFSI schemes (FSSC 22000, SQF, BRCGS) into a cohesive and efficient global QMS framework.Implementation & Standardization:Drive the standardization and harmonization of quality management practices and processes across all global manufacturing sites and relevant business functions.Develop and implement tools, templates, and training materials to support consistent QMS deployment and execution.Collaborate with regional and site-level quality and operational teams to ensure effective QMS implementation and address local needs within the global framework.Continuous Improvement & Performance Monitoring:Establish and monitor Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) for the global QMS, analyzing trends to identify opportunities for improvement.Benchmark ADM’s QMS against best-in-class systems and implement identified best practices.Lead and participate in cross-functional teams to drive QMS improvement projects and initiatives.Facilitate the sharing of best practices and lessons learned across the global network.Training & Capability Building:Develop and deliver comprehensive training programs on the global QMS and quality tools for relevant personnel at corporate, regional, and site levels.Foster a strong quality culture throughout the organization.Technology & Systems:Support the implementation of QMS software and digital tools to enhance efficiency, data management, and reporting capabilities.Qualifications & Experience:
Education:Bachelor’s degree in Food Science, Chemistry, Microbiology, Engineering, or a related scientific field.Master’s degree preferred.Experience:Minimum of 8-12 years of experience in Quality Assurance / Quality Management Systems within a large-scale, global food, feed, or ingredient manufacturing environment.Demonstrated experience in designing, implementing, and managing QMS at a corporate or multi-site level.In-depth, practical knowledge and implementation experience with multiple GFSI-benchmarked standards (FSSC 22000, SQF, BRCGS are essential).Experience with ADM’s product portfolio or similar (e.g., grains, oilseeds, sweeteners, starches, proteins, animal feeds, specialty ingredients) is highly advantageous.Experience with regulatory requirements of major international bodies (FDA, EFSA, Health Canada, etc.).Certifications:Lead Auditor certification in at least one major GFSI scheme (FSSC 22000, SQF, or BRCGS) is highly preferred.HACCP and PCQI certifications are required.ASQ Certified Quality Manager (CQM/OE), Certified Quality Auditor (CQA), or similar certifications are desirable.Skills & Competencies:Expert knowledge of QMS principles (ISO 9001 as a foundation), GFSI schemes, HACCP, prerequisite programs, food safety risk assessment, and quality control methodologies.Strong analytical, problem-solving, and root cause analysis skills.Excellent project management and organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple global initiatives simultaneously.Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present complex information clearly and concisely to diverse audiences.Strong interpersonal and influencing skills, with the ability to build relationships and drive change across different cultures and organizational levels without direct authority.Strategic thinker with a pragmatic and hands-on approach to implementation.Ability to work independently and as part of a global team.High level of integrity and professional judgment.Travel Requirements:Ability to travel domestically and internationally, up to 20-30%, as required to support global sites and initiatives.Excited about this role but don’t think you meet every requirement listed?
