Global Procurement Specialist
**Job Description:** **Job Overview** The **Global Procurement Specialist** plays a critical role in supporting the growth and competitiveness of the **Wireline product family** , a strategic priority for Boart Longyear’s **Mining & Exploration (M&E)** business. This individual contributor will lead global sourcing initiatives, optimize supplier relationships, and deliver measurable cost, quality, and delivery improvements. The role demands a strong analytical mindset, exceptional attention to detail, strategic thinking, and the ability to effectively communicate and influence across functions and geographies. **Key Responsibilities** + Analyze complex procurement and supplier performance data to identify trends, risks, and opportunities. + Develop and maintain procurement dashboards and KPIs to monitor delivery, quality, and cost performance. + Support the selection, onboarding, and ongoing evaluation of suppliers, ensuring alignment with business needs and compliance standards. + Drive sourcing strategies and supplier negotiations to support cost savings and Wireline product innovation. + Collaborate with supply chain, logistics, operations, and engineering teams to ensure timely fulfillment of Wireline components and assemblies. + Support ERP and procurement system enhancements to improve global data visibility and operational efficiency. + Anticipate and mitigate supply risk, proactively addressing issues related to lead times, capacity, and compliance. + Prepare clear, concise reports and presentations to support executive decision-making and supplier strategy. + Contribute to sustainability, ethical sourcing, and continuous improvement initiatives. **Key Skills & Competencies** + **Meticulous attention to detail** and high standards for accuracy. + **Strong analytical and data interpretation skills** , including experience with Excel, Power BI, or Tableau. + Strategic thinking with the ability to balance cost, risk, quality, and long-term supplier development. + Excellent written and verbal **communication skills** , with proven ability to influence stakeholders. + Proficient in contract negotiation, supplier performance management, and global sourcing best practices. + Experience with ERP/procurement systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle) and procurement process design. + Comfortable working in a fast-paced, cross-cultural, and collaborative global environment. + Working knowledge of continuous improvement and sustainable procurement methodologies is a plus. **Qualifications** **Education:** + Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Business, Engineering, or a related field. + Professional certifications (e.g., CPSM, CIPS, Six Sigma) are an asset. **Experience:** + 4–6 years of progressive experience in procurement or sourcing, ideally in industrial, mining, or manufacturing sectors. + Proven track record in leveraging data and supplier negotiation to deliver cost savings and operational performance. + Experience working with global suppliers and cross-functional teams in a matrix organization. **Languages:** Fluency in English required; proficiency in Spanish or Mandarin is a plus for effective supplier engagement. **Physical and Environmental Conditions** + Primarily office-based with occasional visits to supplier and company sites. + Able to navigate warehouse or industrial environments during site visits (PPE required). + Extended periods of sitting and computer work. **Work Environment** + Fast-paced, global environment requiring collaboration across multiple time zones and cultures. + Works closely with procurement, supply chain, operations, finance teams, and corporate leadership. + Strong focus on safety, ethical sourcing, and operational excellence. **Lifting Requirements** + Minimal physical lifting required (typically under 20 lbs / 9 kg). **Compensation, Benefits and Perks** Talented people are attracted to companies with long-term success and a supportive workplace culture that encourages work-life balance.
