Job role:

The Global Procurement Manager will have global procurement accountability for the Primary Packaging Category across the globe.  This includes Foils, Thermoformed Films, Parenterals & Desiccants.  You will develop long term strategic plans for the entire spend area within AstraZeneca for your category from the development of the strategy, through cost management and supplier management / development strategies.

You'll manage stakeholder and supplier relationships to ensure that your Category Strategies are aligned to current and future Business needs and that the supply base is continually assessed and developed to meet changing business demands.

Our Packaging teams are supporting a wide range of sustainability activities from responsible material sourcing, substitute/reduction in materials, to working with our partners ensuring decarbonisation

in line with our 2030 Scope 3 targets.  

You will be passionate about Procurement and have an appetite for change and innovation, bringing an ambitious, motivated approach to our already high performing team.  The Procurement Manager is responsible for managing the commercial and contractual elements of the sourcing process, as well as category business planning (MTP) and monitoring spend against expected budgets/savings, ensuring we meet our financial targets.

Key accountabilities:

Develop and oversee the implementation of the Strategic Category Plans to ensure that the procurement activities deliver the expected business value

Consistently look for new innovative solutions and being creative in your thinking to meet the needs of your stakeholders.

Work collaboratively with other internal functions e.g. Global Supply Chain, Sustainability, Quality/Technical.

Consistently reviewing material supply risks and ensuring appropriate mitigation is in place and agreed with the relevant stakeholders.

Support our business to help achieve Net Zero.

Manage strategic relationships (both internally and externally) to ensure that Category Strategies are aligned to current and future business needs and are delivering.

Develop, evaluate or manage internal and external relationships with suppliers and other cross-functional teams.   Work closely with our operations colleagues to deliver continuous improvement and overall value creation.

Essential requirements & skills

Degree level or equivalent qualifications and experience

5+ years of packaging procurement experience, preferably in Primary Packaging, managing global or regional categories of spend and category strategy creation.

Strong contracting experience and confidence in putting complex Global Agreements together to deadlines.

Experience in managing cross-regional sourcing projects and benchmarking.

Passion for Sustainability
