Role Overview The Global Procurement Director – International Freight is responsible for setting and executing GSK’s global strategies for 4PL, air, ocean, cold chain packaging, and courier services (specialty and non-specialty). Leading a high-performing global team of category managers, this role partners with Supply Chain leadership to deliver end-to-end value - driving cost and cash optimisation, service improvement, quality, sustainability, risks management and network resilience. The Global Procurement Director provides strategic leadership, leads complex supplier negotiations, influences executive-level decision-making and drives digital and ESG transformation across GSK’s logistics procurement activities. Key Responsibilities Strategic Leadership & Category Management Lead and develop a team of Global Procurement Managers, setting clear objectives, providing coaching and fostering a culture of high performance, accountability and collaboration to deliver measurable business outcomes. Develop and deliver multi-year category strategies aligned with GSK’s supply chain and R&D priorities. Partner with senior Supply Chain leaders to influence network design and optimise end-to-end logistics performance. Lead a global team, setting clear objectives, building capability, and driving high performance. Performance & Innovation Build and maintain strategic relationships with key logistics providers (3PL, 4PL). Lead high-value, complex contract negotiations, delivering outcomes at pace. Lead complex negotiations to drive value creation across end to end supply chain. Monitor and analyse market trends, leveraging insights on automation, AI, and emerging logistics models. Set and manage global freight budgets, incorporating pricing negotiations and market dynamics. Champion continuous improvement and operational excellence across all categories. Introduce and embed best-in-class procurement tools, frameworks, and digital solutions. Lead the agenda and content for Quarterly and Annual Business Reviews with strategic partners. Ensure full compliance with GSK’s business and procurement policies, standards and procedures, embedding third-party risk management and ethical sourcing principles across all activities. Sustainability & Risk Management Deliver GSK’s environmental sustainability commitments, including carbon reduction and waste minimisation. Manage the commercial risk profile of GSK’s logistics network, ensuring alignment with business continuity plans. Embed compliance and third-party risk management standards across all procurement activities. Qualifications Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Supply Chain, Procurement, or a related technical field. Extensive experience in Logistics Procurement or Supply Chain, with proven leadership in global categories. Demonstrated ability to lead, motivate and develop teams in a global, matrix environment, fostering a culture of accountability, continuous improvement and high performance. Strong track record in complex negotiations, cost optimisation, efficiency improvement and large-scale supplier management. Excellent communication and influencing skills, with experience engaging senior stakeholders. Demonstrated ability to deliver value beyond cost savings - innovation, risks management, resilience, sustainability and automation. Proven leadership of multi-million / £100M+ category budgets. Strong project and change management capabilities. Advanced analytical and problem-solving skills. In-depth understanding of global freight markets and emerging supply chain trends. Personal Attributes High energy, results-driven, with strong commercial and business acumen. Collaborative mindset with the ability to navigate a complex matrix organisation.
