Axalta is Hiring a Global Platform Technical Manager for a hybrid, permanent opportunity with our team in the Philadelphia Navy Yard. The Global Platform Technical Manager is responsible for leading the transformation of a regionally developed, custom-built application into a modern, scalable, and globally integrated solution. This role will oversee the migration of the Firebird database to SQL, modernize the .NET application layer, and redesign the UI to support responsive and future-proofed UX/UI trends.
This position requires a deep technical skill set, particularly in enterprise architecture, application modernization, data architecture, and system integrations. The individual will be accountable for defining how the database, application, and UI layers interact, ensuring optimal design decisions for performance, maintainability, and scalability. A strong ability to review and optimize .NET code, architect databases, and strategically integrate enterprise systems is required.
Additionally, this role will lead internal development teams and external vendors, requiring leadership, vendor management, and cross-functional collaboration skills. Since the existing system relies on tribal knowledge, this role will also be responsible for knowledge documentation to ensure long-term supportability and scalability.
Given the application's expansion from a North America-focused system to a global solution, the role will also involve data harmonization, enabling real-time data synchronization across regions. The individual will leverage AI/ML, IoT, and AR technologies to enhance automation, predictive analytics, and user experience. This is a senior-level role, requiring expertise in enterprise technology strategy, software development leadership, and system integration, with a high impact on business operations and future digital transformation efforts. The compensation should reflect both the technical depth and strategic leadership responsibilities required to execute this complex transformation.
Areas of Responsibility
1. Application Modernization & Architecture
Lead the end-to-end transformation of a legacy, custom-built application, ensuring seamless migration of Firebird databases to SQL.Oversee the modernization of the .NET application layer to a supported and optimized framework.Redesign the UI to be flexible, composable, and responsive to support future UI/UX trends.Ensure clear separation of responsibilities between the application, BI/reporting, and integration teams.2. Technical Leadership & Oversight
Architect the interaction between database, application, and UI layers to create a scalable and maintainable system.Evaluate existing .NET code, optimize design, and implement modern development practices.Provide technical leadership for internal developers and external vendors, ensuring high-quality code, architecture, and implementation.Establish development best practices, coding standards, and security guidelines.3. Data Architecture & Integration
Normalize regional datasets into a harmonized global data model to ensure consistency across all markets.Architect data flows between the application and enterprise systems to enable real-time synchronization.Work closely with BI and data teams to offload reporting and analytics functions from the core application.4. Design and implement integrations with core enterprise systems (ERP, CRM, and other business platforms).Leverage out-of-the-box (OOB) features of enterprise applications where possible, reducing custom development effort.Define API strategies and integration points for seamless data exchange.5. Define a flexible deployment strategy supporting both cloud and local hosting needs.Ensure the new architecture adheres to security best practices and regulatory compliance.Design the system for scalability, supporting business growth and evolving technology needs.6.
