Job Description:
This role will work on Activist Strategy and is part of the Global Petcare Strategy team. They will initially report to the Chief Strategy Officer, and over time to the other Global Strategy Director, in charge of overall Activist Strategy. This role will primarily be in charge of driving the Activist Strategy agenda from, with, and towards the Care businesses.
What are we looking for?Bachelor's Degree preferred in Economics/ PPE/ Economics & Management/ Mathematics/ Veterinary Medicine and related degrees.
Strong academic performance at university
c.5-10 years' experience in a top Strategy consulting house, or c.10+ years in multiple CPG and/or services industry across marketing, finance, project management, and strategy roles (or combination of the two).
Proven expertise in strategy and project management in multi-category, multi-market environments, including owning projects themselves
Multi-year experience with veterinary or closely related categories
Outstanding analytical skills, problem-solving skills, ability to leverage and cut through complex data and insights to drive decisions
Strong communication and influencing skills
Proven ability to build strong relationships, including with senior stakeholders
What will be your key responsibilities?Node between the Petcare Strategy team and the Care businesses, both within MVH and SDx
Build, maintain, and own relationships with the heads of Strategy of MVH & SDx, as well as any key members of the strategy teams, and wider team members of MVH and SDx, e.g., FP&A
Understand what is happening in the divisions, including their key concerns, and dependencies of these businesses with respect to broader Mars Petcare
Support/connect the wider Global Petcare Strategy team when care-related input is needed
Build and improve a deep understanding of the Care market performance and competition. Helps build and pressure test future-looking Care market scenarios for Petcare
Build, maintain, and own a deep understanding of key Care market sizes, growth rates, market shares of ourselves and competition, and broader competitive dynamics.
Help build and pressure test future-looking Care market scenarios for Petcare.
Enable the journey from early Discovery to Ideation to Decisions, supported by early insights, data-driven discussion, and clear optionality.
Proactively manage the strategic agenda together with the Care businesses
Proactively manage the strategic agenda towards the Petcare Leadership Team (PLT) with the wider Strategy team, key stakeholders across Petcare functions, and key stakeholders within the Care business
Ensure a consistent, data-grounded narrative across Care businesses towards OOP, MLT, and the Board
Select orchestration, challenge, and ad-hoc support on content prep for the PLT+ forums
Lead/contribute to key strategic deep dives.
Lead and/or contribute to key strategic deep dives, typically in close collaboration with divisions and functions, and including the preparation of content. The role ranges from a more of a thought partner/challenger role, to an expert role in a subtopic, to leading the deep dive oneself.
Drive strong stakeholder management with the relevant people in divisions and functions.
Provide Care perspective into broader Ecosystem strategy
Link with key Care counterparts on the Ecosystem strategy to support overall Steering
Align where Ecosystem adds most value to Care, and where Care adds most value to the Ecosystem, to optimise for the overarching business
Support key planning processes from a Strategy perspective
Define strategic priorities as input into IVCP, AEP, and similar processes
Challenge plans constructively to ensure strategic priorities are incorporated
Strengthen Mars Petcare to become more of an activist, strategic market leader, shaping the future of petcare.
Support the wider Mars Petcare Strategy team when our overall priorities shift, to help balance capacity in the team and deliver on what is most impactful across the business
See potential for key improvements, discuss it with the right people, and take ownership when we are the right team to push it forward, or highlight it to another team that might be better placed instead
Be helpful to our key stakeholders and strengthen Mars Petcare (and Mars Inc.) overall
