As Global Early Talent Program participant within Strategy and M&A, you will get hands-on responsibility from the start. You will rapidly build your skills and experience through a series of exciting, cross-functional, and international assignments. Corporate Strategy and M&A is responsible for ABB’s corporate strategy, strategic planning and portfolio management processes as well as execution of acquisitions and divestments.

You will create a legacy to be proud of as you deepen your leadership competences and soft skills, building a strong network within ABB.

For this particular position, you will be hired within the Corporate Strategy and M&A function in Zurich, Switzerland, with rotations in the Motion Business Area in Switzerland and abroad.

The program is made up of three assignments over the course of 24 months:

1) One assignment in Zurich within the Corporate Strategy and M&A function with a strong focus on Strategic Intelligence starting on 1 October 2025 as an introduction to the company.

2) One assignment in business strategy abroad to get an overview of ABB’s business in a different environment/role, and work on an exciting assignment with a different team, expanding your network.

3) One or two assignments in business strategy, M&A or related teams back in Zurich with Motion, where you will deepen your knowledge of the company and your function, strengthening your technical and soft skills.

During the last assignment, participants will meet in Zurich, Switzerland, for a week of training, focused on leadership competencies development. The last rotation will also be the time where the participants start to look for their first permanent position, to be started after the end of the program. All program trainings are meant to build the foundations of your future career evolution.

Your responsibilities

Depending on the assignment role you will be in, most common responsibilities include:

Get involved throughout the entire strategic cycle spanning from diagnosis, market and competitor analysis, strategic modelling and planning to portfolio management and M&A activities as well as performance management

Provide regular macroeconomic, market and competitive intelligence updates

Contribute to strategy projects – delivering results against partially tight deadlines

Support in regular updates on strategy and market insights to the Board of Directors and the Executive Committee

Prepare business plans, projected synergies, and valuations

Support in the preparation of M&A documentation for ABB decision-making  

Support during different phases of M&A transactions: planning & preparations, initial assessment, due diligence, contract negotiations, closing preparations, etc.

Collaborate with ABB businesses and other functions throughout the M&A process

Handle and review acquisition proposals that ABB receives from external parties

Qualifications for the role:

Recent graduate (Master’s level) in Finance, Business Administration, Economics, Engineering or related fields

Previous initial work experience in relevant fields such as strategy consulting, corporate strategy, M&A, investment banking etc. can be considered

Excellent analytical skills – structuring, problem solving, modeling

Passion for tackling complex problems, high level of curiosity, eagerness to learn and initiate engagement with others

Professional fluency in English, other languages are a plus

Excellent written and oral communication skills

Team spirit and global mindset

Attention to detail and accuracy, willing to challenge the status quo and take projects to the next level

Eligibility for work permit in Switzerland, e.g., Swiss or EU/EFTA citizen (we will not sponsor a visa application for this role)
