This Product Management Leader is responsible for leading all aspects of Controls product strategy, new product roadmap development, and in-line product management for the broad family of controllers supporting our various Thermo King equipment portfolios, globally. This involves consolidating 30+ controllers to 1 or 2 families across Thermo King products for the Americas, EMEA and AP. This role will directly report to our VP, Product Management, Thermo King Americas.
They are responsible for leading a Product Growth Team (PGT) that includes peer level Engineering & Operations leaders with process excellence and utilization of Trane Technologies’ business operating system. The successful candidate needs to interface with the platform and digital teams for all products to further the growth strategy for both product and aftermarket.
This strategic leader is accountable for driving profitable growth and for achieving sustainability objectives in alignment with Trane Technologies’ overall strategy and goals. This requires significant stakeholder management including managing Global Procurement for the phase-in/phase-out strategy for all controllers across all products. Furthermore, this leader will have visibility to senior leadership, inclusive of TKLT, ELT & BOD.

Hybrid: This position has been designated as a Hybrid work schedule with work performed onsite 3 days each week.

• Manages the Thermo King Controls portfolio through the entire product lifecycle, gathering and prioritizing product and customer requirements, and defining the product vision.
• Develops a strategic vision for the product that includes knowledge about timing, resource implementations, tradeoffs, and competitive landscape data.
• Works with Engineering to rationalize existing inventory of global controllers to a smaller lineup of next generation controllers, maintaining balance between short-term and long-term profitability objectives.
• Visits internal and external customers face-to-face to understand customer needs from their business point of view.
• Leads interactions with global product management, engineering, and procurement to ensure product design, quality, reliability, and profitability goals are met.
• Communicates product roadmap and plan with Business Units’ product planning and procurement teams; coordinates the plan with functional partners.
• Coordinates with the marketing and sales teams, and with the Equipment Product Managers to develop and implement a marketing plan (including targeted programs and promotions) for each new or updated product/service or extension.
• Leads interactions with the sales team to review and adjust the distribution strategy for each product/service line based on performance.
• Advocates for the Controls strategy and roadmap to the broader organization.
• Develops compelling communication around the value proposition and differentiation to competitive offers and or alternative solutions.
• Understands organizational culture and can fully operate across organizational boundaries.
• Leads the execution of detailed demand planning for all product/service lines based on input from industry, market, and competitor analyses.
• Works independently to manage and lead standard management routine activities pertaining to Product Growth Teams, driving all meetings, measuring metrics, conducting analytics, and utilizing an effective visual management system.
• Applies a Multi Generation Product Plan (MPP) in creating a vision for the product/service.
What you will bring:
• Bachelor's degree in Business, Marketing, Finance, Engineering, or other technical-related degree
• Master's degree preferred, but not required
• Ten (10) to 15 years overall experience of increasing levels of complexity, with a minimum of 7 years of leadership experience in product management, sales, or other relevant areas
• Specific experience working with Controls &/or Digital technology is strongly preferred
• Demonstrated success developing and launching products
• Must have a strong technical aptitude and the ability to work across different functions
• Strong financial acumen is required
• Excellent organization skills and flexibility to handle a variety of time-sensitive tasks and projects
• Demonstrated ability to lead teams and provide effective support on a broad range of activities requiring attention to detail
• Solid analytical and communication skills
• Knowledge of the transport refrigeration business and trucking industry preferred, but not required
Compensation:
Base Pay Range: $134,500 - $225,000
Total compensation for this role will include a commission/incentive plan. Disclaimer: This base pay range is based on US national averages. Actual base pay could be a result of seniority, merit, geographic location where the work is performed.
