Your role and responsibilities

We are looking for a Global Application Specialist in the field of connectivity and monitoring in industrial automation. In this role you will be team member of Agile Team (AT) Develop Applications and Solutions: Industrial Machinery & Control within Agile Unit (AU) Industry & Control.You will be mainly accountable for:• Develop applications in industrial automation which involve connectivity of intelligent devices such as PLCs (programmable logic controllers), gateways, communication cards, motor starters, contactors, softstarters and other smart control devices• Support customers to identify the best solutions for their projects• Support test and validation of applications • Define ABB and competitive landscape, monitor market trends in the above applications and recommends adjustments for the long and mid-term strategy• Support development of adequate customer journey• Provide feedback to R&D, Product management and Digital on new development• Living ABB’s core values of safety and integrity, which means taking responsibility for your own actions while caring for your colleagues and the business

Qualifications for the role

Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in engineering or software and preferably 3 years of experience industrial automationKnowledge of industrial automation common protocols such as OPC UA, Modbus RTU /TCP, Profibus/net, DeviceNet, Ethernet IP, …Knowledge of connectivity software such as PythonKnowledge of programming language for industrial PLCsAgile mindset and preferable experience in an agile working contextProficiency in written and spoken EnglishNegotiation skills, market knowledge, leadership skills, social skills complete the profile
