GL Accountant

JOB SUMMARY

Salary range: $30.00 - $36.00 per hour.

The GL Accountant is responsible for managing a full range of accounting duties for their assigned properties in accordance with Holland Partner Group’s Core Values.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

Prepare monthly financial statements including all supporting documents and schedules for assigned portfolio. Complete month-end accounting close for assigned property portfolio. Complete detailed balance sheet account reconciliations monthly. Prepare and post monthly and quarterly journal entries. Maintain accurate and complete supporting documentation for all journal entries within the ledger system. Research and resolve accounting issues affecting underlying accounting records. Collaborate daily with Senior Accountants, Property Managers, and Regional Property Managers to ensure timely and accurate month end close activities. Serve as a resource to Property Managers on topics related to accounting. Represent Holland Partner Group in a professional manner at all times. Conform to company apparel standards and set a positive example for all Associates. Perform all other duties as directed and assist the overall team effort in any way possible.

JOB REQUIREMENTS

Education: High School Diploma or equivalent is required. Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting strongly preferred.

Experience: Two years minimum experience in general ledger accounting. Previous experience in property management accounting strongly preferred. Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting may be considered in lieu of specified work experience.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required:

Ability to accurately perform multiple tasks in a complex and fast-paced operating environment. Knowledge of basic accounting principles (i.e. journal entries, debits, credits, etc.). Knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) with an emphasis on accrual accounting. Ability to accurately perform basic to intermediate mathematical functions. Proficient with Microsoft Office. Yardi and/or MRI software experience preferred. Proficiency with Adobe Acrobat preferred. Ability to handle confidential information in a discreet, professional manner. Excellent organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills. Strong verbal and written communication skills Ability to work independently as well as part of a team. Ability to effectively work under pressure, reassess daily competing priorities, and proactively meet cyclical deadlines. Ability to work effectively with all levels of employees within the organization.

Attendance: This full-time position requires regular and punctual attendance compliant with the schedule set to meet company needs. Additional hours or overtime may be required.

This position also requires:

Ability to lift or move up to 20 pounds. Hearing and visual ability to observe and detect signs of emergency situations. Fluency in English both verbally and non-verbally.
