Description We are looking for a skilled GL Accountant to join our team in Carson, California. This Contract-to-Permanent position offers an opportunity to contribute to a non-profit organization by managing financial processes and ensuring compliance with established policies. The ideal candidate will possess strong general ledger expertise and a commitment to accuracy in financial reporting.
Responsibilities:
• Prepare and post monthly journal entries for assigned funds and intercompany general journals.
• Review cash receipts and accounts payable batches to ensure accurate coding, timely postings, and compliance with organizational policies.
• Oversee month-end and year-end closings, generate financial statements, and distribute reports within established deadlines.
• Coordinate grant revenue recognition, accruals, and billing with relevant personnel to ensure accurate reporting.
• Reconcile balance sheet accounts monthly to maintain financial accuracy.
• Serve as a liaison between Finance and field personnel, addressing inquiries related to accounts payable, cash receipts, and reporting.
• Monitor and track capital and deferred maintenance projects to ensure proper accounting and oversight.
• Provide training to field personnel on organizational policies and procedures related to bookkeeping and accounting.
• Assist with the preparation of audit schedules for both internal and external audits.
• Support budget preparation and implementation for assigned departments or programs. Requirements • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university, including at least 18 semester (or 24 quarter) units in accounting.
• Minimum of 5 years of accounting experience with strong general ledger expertise.
• Proficiency in accounting systems such as NetSuite, Oracle, QuickBooks, and SAP.
• Solid understanding of accounts payable, accounts receivable, journal entries, and month-end close processes.
• Experience with bank reconciliations and financial reporting.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
• Excellent communication skills for collaboration with various departments and personnel.
• Ability to quickly adapt and acquire new skills as needed.
