GIS Field Technician – Entry Level

About the Role

Join our dynamic Pole Transfer/Joint Use Make Ready Team as a GIS Field Technician, where you'll play a vital role in supporting electric distribution projects across the Houston, TX area. This is an excellent entry point into the power delivery industry, offering hands-on experience in GIS data collection and field design.

You’ll work primarily in the field (90% of the time), using advanced tools and software to collect and analyze spatial data. Your work will directly support environmental management, utility asset tracking, and infrastructure planning.

Key ResponsibilitiesCollect GIS data in the field using proprietary software.Measure utility-owned distribution lines and attachments using telescoping hasting sticks and digital tools.Analyze spatial data and incorporate findings into reports and GIS databases.Collaborate with users to define data needs and project requirements.Travel throughout Virginia, including occasional overnight stays and storm response deployments.Must-Have Skills & QualificationsExperience with Esri’s ArcGIS suite or similar GIS software.Strong general computer and early professional skills.Valid driver’s license and ability to maintain a rental car.Comfortable working outdoors in varying field conditions for extended periods.Ability to manage and operate a telescoping hasting stick.Preferred QualificationsBachelor’s degree in GIS, Engineering Technology, or related field.Prior outdoor field experience (internships or academic projects count).Familiarity with CAD or other design software.Additional InformationTravel: Required throughout Houston, TX area; includes storm response work with potential weekend and 12+ hour shifts.Experience Level: Entry LevelTop Skills: ArcGIS, Esri, Field Data CollectionHow to Apply

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $22.00 - $22.00/hr.
