Key Responsibilities:
PURPOSE
Reporting to TP Manager, the WASH GIS Officer is responsible for establishing a GIS and mWater system for World Vision Eswatini WASH universal service coverage areas, build staff capacity in collecting spatial data as well as building and updating the organizations’ geodatabases and mWater dashboards.

GIS and mWater Development and Compliance:
• Develop/rollout GIS system and mWater databases for all World Vision Eswatini WASH projects.
• Coordinate GIS and mWater mapping from the National office, Cluster and the Project areas.
• Participate in development of monitoring tools and incorporate spatial analysis into the methodologies so that change can be visualized spatially.
• Develop specifications for additional GIS/ and GPS related hardware and software.
• Produce maps and data for Programs and Projects especially for the WASH universal coverage program areas. This includes mapping of all water and sanitation systems, water points/infrastructure.
• Ensure that GIS business processes, standards and policies developed in coordination with other WVE entities are effectively and consistently used by project staff.
• Keep track of WASH universal coverage progress using spatial analysis to guide planning and effective monitoring.
GIS Data Collection, Analysis, Management and Reporting
• Gather information for monthly, quarterly and annually situation reports based on updated achievement/progress of WASH intervention and submit reports use and dissemination.
• Analyze spatial data for geographic statistics to incorporate into documents and reports.
• Compile geographic data from a variety of sources including customer surveys, field observation, satellite imagery, aerial photographs, and existing maps.
• Prepares, updates, and distributes GIS maps and new information within the organization
• Prepare and provide GIS reports which are evidence-based, based on the data collected from the project areas and share with the programs and staff for sharing with the stakeholders in a simple map depicting change/impact
• Maintain inventory of system maps as related to GIS (converts from CAD when necessary)
Capacity Building
• Keep current with new GIS and GPS information and technology (updates the systems)
• Prepare training materials and make presentations to WVE Staff and partners
• Guide GIS system users in creating requirements for GIS Software
• Writes documentation to support software
• Provide training and support to the WASH field staff and relevant partners for effect implementation of spatial data management and data collection
• Support resource mobilization teams during proposal development upon their request in relation to GIS initiatives
Qualifications
• Degree in Geography, Computer Science, Data Management, or other closely related field with technical specialization in Geo-spatial technology, cartography, Geographic Information Systems, Geospatial Engineering, Surveying, Remote sensing.
• Preferably 1-3 years’ traceable experience in GIS for a private or public organization.
• Advanced knowledge of QGIS/ ArcGIS;
• Demonstrated experience in the field of Water, Sanitation and Hygiene or any water related projects.
• Good community participatory skills.
• Training or experience in conducting rapid rural appraisals.
• Experience in networking is necessary.
• Experience in using Microsoft Office (Word, Access, Excel.), QGIS, ArcGIS.
• Excellent skills in report writing.
• Excellent communication and human relations skills.
• Demonstrated interpersonal and leadership skills. Other: NGO experience is preferred and women are encouraged to apply
• The position requires ability and willingness to travel domestically outside the duty station up to 30% of the time
• Field based position with at least 60% of time in the field
