Role description:

Arcadis is seeking a GIS Analyst to provide professional leadership in the GIS discipline at an area level. The successful candidate will be responsible for establishing and consolidating relationships with clients, managing the delivery of projects or specialized project components, and supporting the development of Arcadis’ GIS capabilities. Additionally, this role requires building and maintaining a strong professional reputation, both individually and for Arcadis.

This role will sit in our Mobility Global Business Area, (GBA). We partner with our clients across the globe to design thriving and connected cities and communities that enable opportunity for all and keep the world moving. Climate change, urbanization and digitization trends are requiring today’s mobility projects and systems to address an evolving set of demands from the world’s growing population. We design connected, sustainable solutions that integrate existing infrastructure with new technologies, and optimize the mobility of people and goods.

Role accountabilities:

In this role, you will lead the delivery of GIS projects, ensuring client satisfaction through effective project management and clear communication and collaboration among Arcadis colleagues. You will actively engage with clients and key stakeholders to develop a shared understanding of project objectives, establishing protocols for successful collaboration. Selecting, leading, and developing the project team will be a key part of your responsibilities, making sure that team members possess the necessary skills, are engaged with the project strategy and brief, and fully understand client requirements. You will also manage the team’s delivery of project objectives and oversee the quality and accuracy of GIS mapping, databases, and processes.

You will play a pivotal role in developing and proposing innovative solutions to meet or exceed client expectations, including those that fall outside standard codes when appropriate. Guiding clients through the technical decision-making process, you will provide alternative solutions if project parameters change. Building strong partnerships with senior client personnel is essential, enabling you to identify and resolve issues, uncover business opportunities, and influence client decisions. You will also foster cooperation and identify cross-sell opportunities by building strong working relationships with other teams, technical disciplines, Arcadis offices, and external organizations.

As a GIS Analyst, you will lead the preparation of specialist elements of bids to support the production of high-quality, winning proposals. Staying up to date with industry and technical developments is crucial, and you will seek opportunities to enhance your professional profile at an area level through activities such as conference presentations, publications, and participation in technical committees. Your technical expertise will be utilized to design and develop complex GIS workflows and systems, evaluate and implement emerging GIS technologies, and manage and administer GIS infrastructure.

Additionally, you will be responsible for performing complex data conversions and interpreting and designing intricate database schemas to meet workflow requirements. You will review the work of other GIS team members, providing technical guidance and oversight. Managing direct reports and recruiting, coaching, and mentoring specialist professionals will support the ongoing development of Arcadis’ talent pool and ensure the continued growth and excellence of the GIS discipline within the organization.

Qualifications & Experience:

10 or more years of relevant experience, including leadership in developing and implementing engineering solutions Expert-level proficiency in GIS or related professional discipline Proven experience managing business relationships at senior management level Advanced research, data gathering, and analytical skills Excellent time management and organizational abilities Advanced proficiency with relevant desktop and GIS applications Outstanding interpersonal and communication skills Strong consulting skills in project and client relationship management Recognized as an expert in the field, with knowledge of emerging trends and industry practices Bachelor’s degree in GIS, Geography, Computer Science, IT, Environmental Science, or similar; GISP certification preferred, or equivalent relevant experience/qualifying certification

The salary range for this position is $112,000 - $162,000. The base salary represents Arcadis’ hiring range for this position. Actual salaries will vary and will be based on various factors, such as location, skills, experience, and qualification for the role.
