Job Title: GIS Analyst
Job Description

The GIS Analyst will play a crucial role in supporting the Operation Services department, which aids construction projects. This position involves completing engineering designs and cost estimates using GIS for various main and service work, collecting 'as-built' construction activity using mobile CPS collection devices in the field, creating permanent asset records, editing map features and their corresponding attribute data in the GIS, and performing final quality checks on GIS versioned data before posting. The role also includes representing Engineering at internal and external project meetings and conducting field visits to job sites to assess requirements for service and main work.

ResponsibilitiesComplete engineering designs and cost estimates using GIS for all types of main and service work.Collect construction activity 'as-built' using mobile CPS collection devices in the field to create permanent asset records.Edit map features and their correlating attribute data in the GIS.Perform final quality checks on GIS versioned data before it is posted to the GIS.Represent Engineering at internal and external project meetings as required.Conduct field visits to job sites to determine requirements for service and main work.Perform preliminary review of development plans and interface with customers.Implement and train Engineering staff on new work processes for the GIS mapping system.Distribute and update maps for other departments as requested.Distribute and approve requests for the acquisition and release of easements and vacation of rights-of-way.Perform pipeline safety compliance-related GIS analysis as directed.Carry out all other duties as assigned.Essential SkillsProficiency in ArcGIS and CAD.Experience with construction drawings and 'as-built' drawings.Ability to perform cost forecasting and drafting.Strong understanding of geography and GIS systems.Additional Skills & QualificationsExperience in completing engineering designs and cost estimates using GIS.Experience in editing map features and attribute data in GIS.Capability to represent Engineering in project meetings.Ability to perform pipeline safety compliance-related GIS analysis.Work Environment

This position is based in a professional engineering office, with work required five days per week initially, transitioning to three days in the office per week after training. The role involves both office and field settings, with potential exposure to the elements. Typical work hours are 7:00 a.m. to 3:45 p.m., Monday through Friday, with potential for overtime and travel as needed.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $25.00 - $27.00/hr.
