Gift Card & Accounting Clerk

This role is responsible for servicing all accounting inquiries for Carnival Gift Card transactions via GC research email box and ICare Portal. This includes invoicing orders, tracking gift card issuance and redemption, defective, lost or stolen gift cards and their reissuance, and fraud verification. Provides journal entry preparation and account reconciliations for gift card liability, transitory and receivable accounts.

Essential Functions: 

Research, resolve and respond to guest inquiries related to defective, lost or stolen gift cards Reconcile balance sheet accounts related to gift card liability, gift card transactions in transit and gift card receivables due from third parties.                                                         Investigate cases of potential gift card fraud to their appropriate resolution. Prepare month-end journal entries associated with gift card activity, specifically, the recording of breakage, accrual related to gift card fulfillment vendors, expensing promotional cards used by the marketing team, the capitalization of commissions and the recognition of commission expense associated with gift cards used during the month on Carnival sailings.                                               Monitor gift card issuance and reversal exception report and resolve accordingly. Maintain gift card onboard uplift analysis and sales by channel activity tracking as well as any additional ad hoc reporting requested by management. Code and process invoices received from fulfillment center as well as FedEx for gift card activity.                                                     

Qualifications:

Associate's Degree At least 1 year of Customer Service experience required

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

Analytical and auditing skills Verbal and written communication skills Microsoft Word and Excel

Physical Demands: Must be able to remain in a stationary position at a desk and/or computer for extended periods of time.

Travel: No or very little travel likely

Work Conditions: Work primarily in a climate-controlled environment with minimal safety/health hazard potential.

This position is classified as “remote.”  As a remote role, it allows employees to work full-time from their home. It may also require regular travel to Carnival headquarters in Miami, FL for in-office collaboration.  Sourcing of candidates is primarily done in Carnival’s remote hubs of Orlando, Tampa, Atlanta, Houston, and Dallas.  If the search is extended past those areas, candidates must be located in one of the following U.S. states:  FL, GA, TX and NC
