The Baylor Scott and White (BSW) Divisions of Psychology and Gastroenterology (GI) at the Baylor University Medical Center (BUMC) seek a qualified and motivated GI Psychologist to join our team as an inaugural member of the Functional Bowel Center. The overall mission of this outpatient specialty center is to provide integrative health care to patients with digestive disorders, focusing on the brain-gut connection. The center will be a multispecialty enterprise providing team-based comprehensive digestive health care including clinicians, dieticians, physical therapists, and GI psychologists. In addition to the primary goal of improved clinical and health care outcomes, clinical research will be prioritized and conducted.

Position Key Accountabilities:

The GI psychologist will play a critical role in ensuring the provision of GI Psychology best practices through providing

consultation and comprehensive behavioral health care in this outpatient specialty care setting. The GI psychologist’s role will

emphasize evidence-based, integrative clinical practice, working collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team committed

to excellent care for BSW patients’ medical and behavioral health needs. The ideal candidate should be skilled and experienced in providing psychological clinical services to patients with GI conditions and associated behavioral health concerns; consulting with Gastroenterologists and other team members for the management of patients with chronic functional GI conditions; and contributing to ongoing programmatic initiatives of the Divisions to support the advancement of integrative health care.

Schedule: Fulltime, Monday- Friday, 8:00am-5:00pm.

REQUIRED:

Skill and experience in providing clinical psychological services to patients with chronic medical problems

Skill in individual psychotherapy and group-based education and interventions including cognitive-behavioral therapy, gut-directed hypnotherapy, mindfulness medication, and others

Skill in clinical and educational writing

Knowledge of state and federal laws and legal requirements.

PhD or PsyD in Clinical Psychology from APA approved program or degrees in Counseling or Health Psychology

License-eligible by Texas Board of Psychology and 1 year postdoc experience

PREFERRED:

Board certification or qualification towards board certification status strongly desirable.

Current active license by Texas Board of Psychology

Clinical experience treating patients with GI disorders

Clinical experience providing care within outpatient medical clinics (primary care or specialty care settings)

Interest in teaching, clinical development, and research

Willingness to expand and develop new skill sets of behavioral therapies
