about the role

The German Language Lead plays a pivotal role in ensuring the effective communication of key messaging across multiple channels, with a strong focus on brand marketing copy. Based in Berlin, this role will report to the Localization Manager in EMEA, and is part a wider international team that collaborates closely with regional teams.

The German Language Lead has outstanding copywriting and transcreation skills. They create an engaging, consistent brand presence across lululemon channels in Germany to raise brand awareness, acquire and retain consumers, and above all—drive sales. They’re a talented storyteller who knows how to write engaging copy across different mediums to grow both in-store and digital channels including website, email, and social.

Aside from being a strong linguist, the German Language Lead will also be a key partner working with different teams to successfully localise various materials for store, digital channels, and internal communications, ensuring that content is accurately translated, transcreated when necessary, and adapted for local audiences while maintaining brand consistency and tone of voice.

 

a day in the life: what you’ll do

Transcreate and adapt copy across all channels including campaign taglines, in-store signage, packaging & labelling, guest emails, e-comm, website components and paid social adverts in GermanyProofread and localise global and local messaging to check spelling and grammarReview and sign off employee facing material translated by other linguistsWork in partnership with a small team of German linguists to produce most locally relevant campaign taglinesCollaborate successfully with teams across various departments including Creative Operations, Community, Packaging and Store teamsGuard the brand, maintaining lululemon’s tone of voice across mediums and channels including windows, VM, ecommerce, film, and packaging and owning linguistic assets making sure they are up to dateCollect and coordinate language feedback from both guests and employees, reporting on engagement and continuously improving the localization processIdentify and manage risks related to campaigns, ensuring they are culturally relevant and engagingEnsure quality standards are met through regular quality checks and feedback sessions with Berlin teams.Manage Translation Memory (TM) and linguistic assets for GermanyStay informed about industry trends, language management tools, and best practices

 

qualifications, skills & experience 

Bachelor's, or master's degree, in Localization, Language Studies or Copywriting3+ years of experience working for advertising agency or lifestyle/sports brand, ideally in BerlinExcellent written and verbal communication skills and a meticulous eye for detailWorking knowledge of CAT tools, including TMs and subtitling workflows
