Course: GERM 373-001 Weimar German Cinema. (3 credits)

Course details: Weimar Cinema brought to the screen a world populated by monsters, lunatics, workers, vamps, strangers, and doubles. These figures embodied the tensions and fears of the Weimar period (1919-1933) in a manner that continues to attract audiences today. This course explores the cultural and political history of the Weimar period through Weimar cinema. It aims to introduce the student to the fundamentals of film analysis, especially formal analysis and textual analysis.

Salary: $11,479

A Course Lecturer assignment includes all or part of the following teaching activities:

a) preparation of the Course and Course plan; 
b) delivery of the Course; 
c) evaluation of students; 
d) submitting to the University a report on student attendance and student grades; 
e) supervision of Teaching Assistants or any other teaching support staff; 
f) upon request, review of their students’ grades; 
g) meeting with students, being available to answer questions and give advice concerning Course content and requirements; 

Employees shall perform their duties in compliance with the Pedagogical Regulation and as specified in the administrative directives of the Hiring Unit. An Employee shall use appropriate pedagogical methods and material.

Teaching Qualification Requirements: 

Education: Ph.D. in German or ABD registered in the German Studies graduate program at McGill. 

Experience: A minimum of two semesters as instructor of a course at a similar level or to be PhD student in German Studies at the ABD level in the Department of Languages, Literatures, and Cultures at McGill University.
Other: Native fluency in English required.
