Job Title: Geotechnical Lab Technician Job Description We are seeking a Lab Engineering Technician I to perform laboratory testing of construction materials such as soils, aggregates, concrete, asphalt, and rock. This entry-level role involves working under close supervision to assist with basic testing and observation duties, while progressively gaining responsibility and technical expertise. The technician will document findings, communicate with project managers, and ensure compliance with safety and quality standards. Responsibilities + Conduct laboratory tests on construction materials including soils, aggregates, concrete, asphalt, and rock. + Assist with basic testing and observation duties under close supervision. + Document findings accurately and communicate results to project managers. + Ensure compliance with safety and quality standards during testing procedures. + Perform equipment calibration and maintenance as required. + Collect and enter data into technical reports. Essential Skills + Basic knowledge of construction materials testing procedures. + Strong attention to detail and accuracy in data collection. + Effective communication skills, both written and verbal. + Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record. + Ability to follow safety protocols and procedures. + Technical report writing skills. + Equipment calibration experience. + Data entry proficiency. Additional Skills & Qualifications + High school diploma or equivalent. + Successful completion of internal safety certifications. + Willingness to obtain internal Soils Certification within 6 months. + Preferred: ACI Concrete Strength and ACI Aggregate Technician certifications. + Physical ability to lift and transport materials and equipment. + Strong work ethic and eagerness to learn. + Familiarity with laboratory equipment and procedures. + Basic computer proficiency for data entry and reporting. + Ability to interpret technical documents and specifications. Work Environment Primarily laboratory-based with occasional field sample transport. Exposure to construction materials and testing equipment is expected. The role requires the use of personal protective equipment (PPE) and may involve standing for extended periods and lifting heavy samples. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $23.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
