Job Description
We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Geotechnical Engineer to join our engineering team. The successful candidate will be responsible for planning and conducting geotechnical investigations, analyzing soil and rock properties, and providing recommendations for foundation design, slope stability, earthworks, and other geotechnical aspects of construction projects.
ResponsibilitiesConduct site investigations and soil sampling for construction and infrastructure projects.Analyze soil, rock, groundwater, and other site conditions using laboratory and field data.Prepare geotechnical reports, including foundation recommendations, slope stability analysis, and settlement predictions.Collaborate with civil and structural engineers to integrate geotechnical findings into design plans.Use geotechnical software (e.g., PLAXIS, GeoStudio) for modeling and analysis.Monitor construction activities to ensure compliance with geotechnical recommendations.Provide technical support during project planning, design, and construction phases.Ensure all work complies with relevant codes, standards, and environmental regulations.Essential SkillsBachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Geotechnical Engineering, or a related field (Master’s preferred).Professional Engineer (PE) license or ability to obtain within a specific timeframe.3+ years of experience in geotechnical engineering or related field.Proficiency in geotechnical analysis software and CAD tools.Strong understanding of soil mechanics, foundation engineering, and earthworks.Excellent written and verbal communication skills.Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.Additional Skills & QualificationsExperience in material testing and geotechnical analysis.Familiarity with concrete and geotechnical investigation techniques.Work Environment
The role requires supporting both the Charlotte and Greensboro markets, with expected travel between these locations. The work environment will involve fieldwork, laboratory analysis, and collaboration with multidisciplinary teams.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $33.65 - $40.86/hr.
