A Geotechnical Assistant supports the lead driller in subsurface drilling operations using various geotechnical drilling equipment. This entry-level position involves training in equipment maintenance, operation, and understanding the geotechnical exploration process
Key ResponsibilitiesAssist in Drilling Operations: Perform subsurface drilling using techniques such as auger drilling, mud rotary drilling, air rotary, and diamond rock bit coringSample Collection: Collect soil and rock samples using various samplers and prepare boring logsEquipment Maintenance: Conduct routine maintenance on drilling equipment, including diesel engines and hydraulic componentsSafety Compliance: Follow safety rules, guidelines, and standards for all projectsSupport Tasks: Help with positioning and aligning the rig, driving medium-duty drilling trucks, and operating other equipment like forklifts and skid steer.Essential SkillsSoil samplingEnvironmental scienceEnvironmental engineeringGeologyGeotechnicalFieldworkData collectionGroundwater analysisAdditional Skills & QualificationsAAS or BS degree in Geology or Environmental ScienceAny field experience is a plusPay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $18.00 - $21.00/hr.
