The incumbent will provide advanced geological expertise in support of Louisiana’s coastal restoration and hurricane protection efforts, guiding the planning, research, and coordination of large-scale, multidisciplinary projects. Work will include managing complex technical challenges with ecological, economic, and social implications to preserve and protect the state’s coastal resources. Job Duties and Other Information Job Duties: + Serves as a geological advisor for large-scale, technically complex, and often controversial coastal restoration and hurricane protection projects. + Conducts advanced geological evaluations to inform planning, research, and design, and establishes sediment-related design criteria for major restoration efforts such as diversions, barrier islands, and dredging projects. + Provides geological and technical guidance on sensitive coastal project issues, serving in an advisory role at public hearings and interagency meetings, and coordinating with federal, state, and local partners to review and approve project plans and specifications. + Assists in preparing scopes of work, negotiating contracts, and reviewing geological research, designs, and deliverables from consultants to ensure compliance with technical requirements and contract terms. + Prepares and reviews technical scientific reports, presentations, and editorial content on geological topics, providing expert consultation and guidance to CPRA leadership, staff, and the Governor’s Office of Coastal Activities. + Facilitates permit acquisition with multiple regulatory agencies and supports special projects and emergency response efforts as assigned, including availability for 24/7 storm and disaster-related work.
